Whiptail Interactive has today announced that it will publish Gangland for the PC in November. The game, which is being developed by Denmark-based MediaMobsters, will combine elements of real-time strategy, role-playing, and simulation, and it will see players assuming the role of one of four Italian brothers born into the Mafia.

"MediaMobsters has created a dangerously good game in Gangland," said Chris Warrender, publishing director at Whiptail Interactive. "Its hybrid style of gameplay is complemented by a truly intelligent gaming system that creates a progressive living and breathing city environment, with everyone and everything reacting to every move that a player makes during the course of the game. Whiptail Interactive is proud to unleash the masterpiece that is Gangland, one of the most exciting games I have ever seen, on serious gaming enthusiasts everywhere."

As Mario, Angelo, Romano, or Sonny, players will be challenged to work their way up within the crime family, competing with other mobs and gangsters in Paradise City. The city itself will be divided up into 26 district maps, each inhabited by approximately 500 non-player characters attempting to lead their own lives as you progress through the game setting up protection rackets, prostituting women, and murdering enemies.

"Gangland attracted serious interest from some of the largest publishers in the industry, but Whiptail Interactive's business model offered us the flexibility and focused approach that best suited our way of working," said Christian Majgaard, director of MediaMobsters. "Whiptail Interactive's belief in Gangland combined with the dedicated hands-on approach and working partnership that they offer made the choice really easy for us."

According to today's press release, Gangland will feature a unique "event vngine" that generates nonlinear plotlines each time a new single-player game is played. The game will also feature multiplayer support for up to eight players competing on 15 specially designed maps. Gangland is currently scheduled for release in both North America and Europe in November. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
