Wouldn't play so found the link for updated directX here and installed it. Game now starts but won't do anything and then crashes and changes all the computers graphics into safe mode. Grrrrrr!!!!!

Thanks champmanfan, had to force Gigaget to download the thing, but 12 minutes sure beats 2 hours and some odd. BTW: I chose Gigaget from a field of 10 free download acceleratetors I tried over a year ago and it out performed every one of them. Even supports auto-resume very nicely and best of all, no ads. Thanks again for the hint.

I don't see much different from any of the other EU line, same engine.

I DLed this game demo. When i clicked to play all I get is the message "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_35.dll was not found". This is a .dll that should be installed with the demo download.

Actually, the game appears very well done, it is just very complex. It is a different take on strategy games, with much more detail and importance given to the development of your city instead of merely building a mine and then pumping out a bunch of troops. Personally, I found the demo challenging, but not interesting enough to make me want to buy it.

If you get the message about missing a file, you should check your version of direct X. It is probably not up to date, which is why you get the error

those getting the error message need to download the latest version of DirectX at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en.

If you think the Total War games deserve to be called "strategy" games, you have no business commenting on any Europa Universalis title -- a series that was around long before RTW, and has about 10 times the depth

lol this game is nothing like Rome TW. It is way more complex and it requires a brain.
