Disciples III reborn

Now subtitled Renaissance, strategy role-playing game has been handed off to Akella, developer of Pirates of the Caribbean and Sea Dogs.

Earlier this year, Game Factory Interactive was booted from the development of Strategy First's upcoming PC strategy role-playing game Disciples III. At the time, Strategy First said that the game was already under development at a different studio that would be revealed shortly.

Today, the publisher announced the identity of that studio, as well as the game's apt subtitle of "Renaissance." As for which team will be responsible for the game's rebirth, Strategy First has tapped Russian studio Akella, makers of the Xbox and PlayStation 2 games Sea Dogs and the Pirates of the Caribbean, based on the movie.

The world of Disciples III is divided into several different races that worship their own gods. As lord of one of these races, players will seek to spread the good word and extend their god's domain across the land. In a statement, Akella vice president of development Dmitry Arkhipov promised that the game would build on the foundation of Disciples I and II, with "more interesting gameplay and realistic graphics."

No price or release date for the game has been announced.

If Akella can make this game without their usual "bugs are good" habit, I'll be pleased to play it...

Akella, makers of Sea Dogs and Pirates of the Caribbean(this bs was a sequel to sea dogs btw and not related to the movie at any time) ...
= no hope for the the game to be any good.

So all I have to add might be this.

Goodbye good old Disciples. May you rest in peace!

The last two games absolutely rocked but the only thing im worried bout is (this also applies to heroes V) wheather the new game will be as addictive as its predecesors. because ive played the heroes V demo and the new fancy graphics take your mind off of the game and ur no longer left thinkin strategically. that was the wonder with the old disciples and heroes games - the graphics were there just there to give u a distraction, the tactics was the main point.

lets hope the 3D version has excellent playability not just eye candy or busy looking scenery!!! You can be simple and yet cativating like chess...and then create a game that lives on because of itself and not all this " look how amazingly we can program these images!

Firstly, Sea Dogs was never on PS2 or XBOX. Second, Pirates of the Caribbean was not based on the movie. It was going to be called Sea Dogs 2 until the studio that produced Pirates contacted Bethesda to make a deal on name recognition. Or maybe Bethesda called them, not sure. Anywho, check it Gamespot. I know your better than this. That aside Disciples ROCKS!

DesRed, Nival is a good developer. They've made some great games like Etherlords, Silent Storm, and Blitzkrieg. I've played the Heroes V demo, and it seems it's going to be a great game. I haven't played anything made by Akella, but I heard good things about them.

By the way, Nival is moving from Russia to California soon.

Sorry for my double post but what I said was that two of the hit titles, Heroes V and Disciples 3, not most titles. I apologize for the misinformation

Seems like most of these hit titles like Heroes V and Disciples 3 have sth in common. They're being developed by Russian developers. Heroes V is developed by Nival Interactive, from Russia, and now Disciples 3, developed by Akella, also from Russia.

To me, I think its ok, though I sometimes wonder if these developers are good or not. Still, I'll be willing to wait and see how the development of both games turn out.
