Civ III multiplayer patch coming

Firaxis is working on a patch for the multiplayer feature added by the recent Civilization III expansion.

Firaxis CEO Jeff Briggs has said that the studio is working on a patch designed to resolve the significant connectivity and lag problems that players have reported encountering in the recent Civilization III: Play the World expansion. The patch is now being tested and is intended to address a number of issues, including fixing the GameSpy Arcade matchmaking process, improving overall game speed, fixing lag issues and "player drop" crashes, and adding Direct IP support.

In a letter posted on CivFanatics.com, Briggs said that the studio regrets that "Play the World's debut was less than what people have come to expect from Firaxis Games." He reported that users have been giving positive feedback on the single-player features and multiplayer LAN play.
