Black & White 2 does godly expansion

[UPDATE] Lionhead brings Battle of the Gods to Black & White 2; PC add-on features a rival god. PC demo of B&W 2 now available on GameSpot.

Gamers who have a bit of a god complex are about to get some new territory in which to throw their weight around. Electronic Arts today announced that Black & White 2 is getting its first expansion with Black & White 2: Battle of the Gods. The expansion will be developed by Lionhead Studios, the studio headed up by industry veteran Peter Molyneux, and will be released in April.

In Battle of the Gods, which EA describes as "darker" and "more sinister" than the game it adds to, players will return to the once-peaceful Eden, where a new force has been stirred up. The Aztecs, displeased with their defeat, have conjured up an evil deity through indiscriminate human sacrifices. As the game's name suggests, it's up to the player to duke it out with the new god and reconvert the infidels. As with other games in the series, how that task is accomplished, be it with benevolence or malevolence, is up to the player.

The nonbelievers will be beefed up with a new creature, two new armies, and a revamped artificial intelligence system. Other additional content includes two new lands, six new challenges, and four new miracles.

[UPDATE] Gamers who haven't yet had a chance yet to get their god on can sample Black & White 2 with a PC demo released by Lionhead today. The 632MB file lets players get their feet wet on one of the lands by giving them the ins and outs of building towns and using the terrain.

EA has not yet released pricing or rating information for Black & White 2: Battle of the Gods. For more information on the series, check out GameSpot's review of Black & White 2.

I cannot believe after all the complaints from the eager and loyal fans to add skirmish and multiplayer, and after the hard facts that this is one of the main things people loved in the first one, they still decide to ignore it

It is a good game but i feel that in some ways it is to easy. before u had to work to get things done in the game now all u do to build is hold ur mouse over a building and click. and i feel that many of the things u get points for are too impersonall. i want more chaklenges like the missionaries from the first game

This was a good game but it was basically a once or possibly twice playable game before it got boring as there is no skirmish and no multiplayer and only one set campaign.

I believe its extremely wierd that they are ignoring multiplayer as this is now a basic standard for all RTS games.
    Give me Multiplayer!!!!!

or my money back :S ?

B&W2 isn't boring. Comments like yours are, however. I had tons of fun playing it, not sure why you would think it's boring. PEACE

You are right hondje89, and now i know that with no multiplayer support, this expansion wont be something to be worth of buying.

I thought they would add multiplayer aswell, maybe if they did it from the start the game would of fared much better, but for some stupid reason they thought multiplayer would suck.. even tho it was developed since they kept mentioning them using it.

Black and White 2 was one of my favorite RTS/god games. I'm glad to see Lionhead supporting it.
