GoldMine: Four for PCs off to factory

Releases of Atari's D&D Online: Stormreach, CDV's American Conquest, EA's Battle for Middle-earth II, and Sims 2 expansion imminent.

This Valentine's Day, roses are red, violets are blue, and a slew of PC games are gold. Whether gamers want to conquer foes with spells and dragons, with Civil War-era armies, or with crafty business tactics, they'll have something to load up in the next few weeks.

Atari will be shipping Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach on February 28. The game was developed by Turbine Entertainment, and lets dungeon crawlers enter first officially licensed Dungeons & Dragons massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Stormreach is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99.

Speaking of dragons, Electronic Arts is sending The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II off for duplication. The real-time strategy game was created by EALA, and will be in stores March 2. The second edition of the series features lore from J.R.R. Tolkien's LOTR books as well as Peter Jackson's films. Those who can't wait to get into battle can download the game's demo from GameSpot. Battle for Middle-earth II is rated T for Teen and will sell for $49.99.

If dwarves and magic are too hokey for some gamers, they can join the front line of American Conquest: Divided Nation when it ships February 27. The RTS is set during the Civil War, and allows gamers to be a general, a Texan militia leader, or a pirate. GSC Game World handled the development of the game, which is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and will retail for $29.99.

For a less violent experience, gamers can look forward to the latest Sims 2 expansion, The Sims 2: Open for Business, which went gold today, according to multiple online reports. The add-on sees the mumbling sim-citizens venture off to their places of employment, hawking wares and managing other employees. Look for The Sims 2: Open for Business to hit stores February 28.

gah all these coming out at one time and also the expansions for EQ1 & 2. Not enough time in the day to play them all. At least Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has been pushed back to June so will have something new to play then.

Until levitation really works, and a Bard is a class worth playing, I am not going to touch D&D.
