Codemasters announces World Championship Snooker 2004
The next game in Codemasters' snooker series will support online play for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. First screens inside.
Codemasters has today announced that it will publish World Championship Snooker 2004 for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 in Europe this summer. Currently in development at Blade Interactive, the game will be the first in the series to feature online play in addition to more than 30 professional opponents with improved AI and motion-captured animations.
In addition to the World Championships, World Championship Snooker 2004 will let players compete in licensed re-creations of all of the tournaments on the snooker calendar, including the LG Cup, British Open, UK Championships, European Open, Welsh Open, Irish Masters, Player's Championship, Masters, and many more. Venues such as the Crucible Theatre will be accurately re-created in the game, as will opponents such as Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams, Steve Davis, Ken Doherty, John Higgins, and Tony Drago.
A new classic match mode will let players re-create some of the sport's most memorable moments, including the epic 1985 final between Dennis Taylor and Steve Davis. Games of 8-ball and 9-ball pool will also be available. For more information, check out the official World Championship Snooker 2004 Web site launched today.
