Strategy First has announced US Open 2002, its upcoming tennis simulation game. The game is being developed for the PC and the latest console platforms. It will let players assume the role of a professional tennis player in a number of tournaments set in a variety of locations.
The game features more than 500 motion-captured animations to re-create a realistic tennis experience. During the match, players have access to four main types of shots, including lobs, topspin, normal, and slice, as well as a sidespin shot. The game includes 12 main courts with four different surface types, as well as three training courts and two hidden courts. In addition to the main career mode, the game will include an arcade mode, an exhibition mode, a challenge mode, and other single- and multiplayer modes.
We've posted some screenshots, which show off some of the game's courts and players, in the gallery above. US Open 2002 is scheduled for release in August.
