Freestyle Street B-ball grabs Lloyd Banks for soundtrack

Sierra Online's MMO basketball game will dribble to the tunes of G-Unit's Lloyd Banks, Young Hot Rod, Sha Money XL.

Avril Lavigne may sit pretty with Burnout Dominator, but with a street basketball game? Not so much. For its upcoming massively multiplayer online basketball game (editor's note: yes, you read that correctly) Freestyle Street Basketball, Sierra Online is enlisting the help of hip-hop artists from 50 Cent's G-Unit posse.

Leading the way is rapper Lloyd Banks, followed by new G-Unit member Young Hot Rod and producer Sha Money XL. Sha Money will produce all the tracks on the album and contribute seven original beats to the game.

Freestyle Street Basketball, a PC exclusive, is currently accepting registrants for its free preview, which will begin this spring. In the game, players challenge each other to matches of one-on-one, two-on-two, or three-on-three on virtual courts. The game is presently available in Asia, where it has more than 30 million players.

For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage or visit the official Web site.

Smithblat89, "don't know nothing" is a double negative, meaning we DO know something. Either learn to speak English or don't speak at all. About the game: it seems to attract many (not all) from the unintelligent crowd, such as Smithblat89, who apparently never got a chance to be something, or never took that chance. And now they want to pretend to be something special in a virtual street basketball world. Pretty pathetic. Seriously, the game lags a lot! Many of the people (I would say about 8 out of 10) are extremely immature idiots who don't feel that teamwork should be a concept practiced in the game of basketball, because most are so busy trying to be the hero by making every shot that they end up losing the game for the team. I even met a few that were outright pissed when you didn't pass the ball to them. They would spew unintelligent comments like, "yo dude, you suck!", and all the while the other teammates (you remember, the ones that won't pass to you?) are making all of the shots and getting all of the rebounds.

If you really want to put up with a bunch of bad teenager attitudes, go hang out at the mall for free. Don't waste money on this daycare hangout of a game.

30 million??!!?? somehow that number just doesnt seem right....i dont even remember starcraft having that many players, and i would tend to give starcraft just a BITTTTT more clout than this game...."

I was thinking the same thing...but then I clicked on the game to look more into it and it says it is a "Korean Sensation"....so there is your 29.5 million players right there.

Banks is nice as hell on the mic, but Yayo and Buck are wack. 50's wack and just rode Dre's beats to fame, Ma$e is e sellout hypocrite. Havok's nice but needs to drop Prodigy's wack a$$. For the record, tho dude's not affiliated with G-Unit, Game is beyond wack and needs to get back to being dissed on Change of Heart.

All these cats kill true hip-hop. Give me true MC's anyday, cerebral cats who have something relevant to say: Mos Def, Talib, Guru, Nas, Common et al...

But back to videogaming: since when did I ever buy a game for it's soundtrack? I mean a good soundtrack is nice (Castlevania: SON)- but that never influenced my copping a game or not.

G-Unit sucks. I would've respected them if they brought in wu tang...though I dont see how they're beats (which have that whole shiaolin kung fu movie feel to them) would fit in this game. G-Unit is ruining rap...but whatever. Maybe the beats will come out nice. Many of their songs have catchy hooks, but with terrible lyrics. Lloyd Banks...eh...not as bad as the others....

ivory_soul EWWW G-Unit is the lamest thing since Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton. They are trapping kids minds and making them become society driven and telling kids to have sex, party, drink, and whatever. I personally don't do any of those things and never will. Of course only the idiots will do that and listen to G-Unit but this game just looks so lame. And yes I hate Jack Thompson. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your comment shows how much you know, very little.
Name one track from any g-unit member where they tell kids to go have sex, party and drink, they rap about their lifestyle and history of what has happened to them and things that happened in the enviroment they grew up in.

What teenager doesnt want to have sex with nice girls to go out partying and drinking, it's part of growing up and enjoying yourself while your young, and i find it weird that you state you will never do these things and talk like they are bad crimes or something.

And to judge people by what music they listen too is also pathetic and narrow minded, your saying everybody who listens to g-unit is an idiot, that statement makes yu the idiot.

i like all types of music and enjoy the stuff g-unit puts out, i dont like Llyod Banks and tony yayo but i wouldnt call someone an idiot because they did enjoy their music.

Im guessing you enjoy some church music or cold play's very depressing music, and if you did i wouldnt judge you by the type of music you listen too.

Anyway the idea of this game looks fun 1-1 basketball matches online may be fun, but im not into basketball but i do enjoy games like nba street so i will have to wait and see how this turns out, i loved nba jam's 2-2 games so this may be fun.

I don't... 1) Just because MTV (if they ever actually show videos) and BET only play the singles that about these topics that you don't like so much like the $, does't mean you should pigeon hole all their music as garbage. If you actually listen to the entirety of ANY album you would find that there is deeper lyrical content in many songs... but I forgot, nobody actually listens to entire CDs any more. They just call the radio station, buy the single or even the whole CD, but just slam the same damn songs into the ground Over and Over again, until people don't like it anymore.
    2) ivory_soul: "They are trapping kids minds and making them become society driven and telling kids to have sex, party, drink, and whatever. I personally don't do any of those things and never will." You are never going to have SEX? You are like a modern Jim Morrison or something, or you maybe eligible for papacy someday...

"Of course only the idiots will do that and listen to G-Unit but this game just looks so lame."
I am not tring to be an azz... but you are the one being judgemental and sterotyping people that listen to a certain music... Plus you should loosen up dude, there is always an appropriate time to "party and whatever"... life is too short, but that absolutely is your own prerogative.

I'm not interested in the game but I'd hate to have anyone from GUnit on my soundtrack. They are just a bunch of garbage materialistic rappers. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of rap and hip hop but I hate trash that has no meaning and is all about money hoes and rims. And I like video games even more so I'd like to keep that trash out of games.
