Worldwide Soccer Manager 2007 headed to US by year's end

Sports Interactive's soccer-coaching sim dribbles onto PCs and Macs this October; new feeder clubs, scouting system added.

American gamers questioning Team USA's losing opening-game strategy in the World Cup will have a shot at running their own team later this year. Sega of America today announced that Worldwide Soccer Manager 2007 will be available for the PC and Mac this October.

Late last week, the European equivalent, Football Manager 2007, was announced for a Christmas release on the same platforms, plus the Xbox 360 and PSP. Today's announcement from the American arm of Sega made no mention of an American release for the console and handheld versions.

As previously revealed, the new game will feature feeder clubs, a sort of soccer take on minor league teams. The youth squad and scouting systems have been retooled to deepen both features. Player interaction was also given a facelift, allowing crafty managers to use the media to their advantages, or rip their teams a new one after a disappointing loss.

Sports Interactive was acquired by Sega in April, with the intent to increase "focus on Western development as part of its long-term strategic plan."

Woldwide Soccer Manager 2007 has not yet been rated, but Worldwide Soccer Manager 2006 bore the E for Everyone label. No price has yet been announced.

    Worlwide Soccer manager is the same thign as Football Manager. But originally, Football Manager was Championship Manager (which was developped by Eidos and Sports Interactive) but after the CM 01/02 I believe, Sega bought Sports Interactive.

    In my opinion, Football Manager is the real deal. Since it is developped by the original creator which made this serie stand out (heck it has always been ever better since CM '94!). In sport management this game has always been the king... if you want to play soccer, try Fifa or Winning Eleven, but if you want to manage your team, you can't beat this.

    football manager...best game ever basically. looking forward to the improvements (as it is it's miles better than fifa manager or CM) and comparing it to Winning eleven is rather nonsensical as one is a management sim and one is a football simulation...not saying either is better just saying apples and oranges

    This game runied my life, before I satrted playing it i was a socialbe outgoing guy now it's just me my big ass silent bob and my pc and i can't stop playing until I have taken oxford united to the champions league final and emerged victorious.

    Can't wait. Already have the 2006 version. Very addictive. Their hockey simulation is just as good. You can't compare this game to Winning 11. WWSM is pure strategy.

    I'd love to play this on my PSP, I liked the 2006 version on the PC, but playing this on the train will be really cool.

    WWSM or as it is knowen in England by Football Manager 2007 is one of the best football managerment games. And because the football part sticks, by its original name of Football which is football.

    And 2 its the best sports managerment game.

    The 2006 version is a nice upgrade from the 2005 (finally a training system that doesn't suuuuu-uuuuck! and players in low leagues actually have truly crappy ratings). Hopefully they continue the fine NHL:EHM product too.

    I'm not really into this kind of football sims, however it should be interesting to see how the final product fares in comparison to other sims. The fact that it will be released for the PC and Mac makes it more accesible than a console game.

    the 2006 version is code free, so people in the US can import it if they want to gte some practice before 2007 comes out

    For God's sake, if you don't like soccer, why the hell would you read this article? And for that matter, why would you post in an article that doesn't interest you that you don't like soccer?? How much free time do you have on your hands?

    Okay, so in reality, World Cup fever has obviously taken a greater toll on the US that previously expected if Sega is taking the chance to bring out such an insanely deep simulation on this side of the pond. Thanks Sega! i'll give it a try for sure All this sitting in a hotel room, watching World Cup is giving me the itch to play again.

    So its coming to the 360 and PSP thats cool.Well it's good Sega is making more sport's games they can really make some good one's.
