UK game charts: June 11-17

The World Cup continues to exert influence, with 2006 FIFA World Cup at the top of the pile again, and four other football titles featuring in the top 10.

The UK all-formats chart has once again been dominated by football titles, as the World Cup rumbles on. The top three remained unchanged from last week, with 2006 FIFA World Cup holding off Eidos duo Hitman: Blood Money and Tomb Raider: Legend, which took second and third.

Nintendo had a good week in the chart with DS titles, as Dr Kawashima's Brain Training moved up to fourth, Animal Crossing: Wild World went up a place to eighth and Nintendogs: Dalmatians & Friends debuted in 12th place.

Pro Evolution Soccer 5 and Sensible Soccer 2006 took fifth and sixth, respectively, while Moto GP 06 dropped to seventh. Championship Manager 2006 and Football Manager 2006 finished up the top 10, giving football-related titles a massive share in the week's game sales. With the World Cup set to continue for several more weeks, it's likely that the sport will be represented heavily in the chart for some time to come.

    The football games will leave the list once the DS Lite is launched in the UK. I mean, even the US has succumbed to the Lite.

    soccer isn't it a sport it is called footbal not the football americans know this is a proper sport

    Anyway, it's stupid for some americans to bash football. Their team played pretty well against Italia, nice team game. They managed to supress their technical hadicap with some pretty well drawn team work, it was an intense game.
    And..., there are +100 american players playing in European leagues.

    Soccer is not #1 sports in USA yet, just because US's TV station can't cope with 45 minutes without commercials. That's the only reason...

    All of you Americans calling it soccer are stupid It's called football. Your fake @$$ rugby rip off American football sux! And I'm not just hateing, it truely is the worse sport ever! World cup is much better than crappy superbowl!

    Interesting that G.R.A.W. for the 360 didn't pop the top 10 in the UK like it did in the US. Wow, is that a fun game online.

    Gnbfd- You think his name is fanboyish? Well, look at mine. And I am NOT a fanboy by any means.

    I expected this. With the World Cup in full swing and soccer being so huge in the UK, it's no surprise that a soccer game to be on top of the charts.

    DS Lite will continue to outsell PSP in the US now.

    Great week for soccer fans and the Nintendo DS. Because the English team has advanced to the next round in the FIFA World Cup I think that the charts won't be too different next week. We shall see.
