Ronaldinho center stage on FIFA 07 cover

Seven soccer stars announced as regional cover athletes for EA's upcoming soccer game; licenses extended with Premier, Mexican leagues.

Soccer's international flavor will once again be on display on the cover of Electronic Arts' FIFA 07. The publisher today announced that it has signed seven soccer stars to grace the cover of the upcoming sports game, which ships to stores on October 3.

Though the players on each cover will be determined by region, one athlete will be featured on all covers. Brazil's Ronaldinho, who plays professionally for FC Barcelona, will be featured as the center piece of each cover and will be flanked with local stars. Ronaldinho, who was featured on the cover of FIFA 06, is the two-time FIFA player of the year and apparently a big fan of EA's FIFA franchise.

In North America, LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan and Mexico's Francisco Fonseca will be featured alongside Ronaldinho on the cover. Similar honors go to Manchester United's Wayne Rooney in the UK (pictured), Bayern Munich's Lukas Podolski in Germany, Valencia's David Villa in Spain, and Olympique Lyonnais's Juninho Pernambucano in France.

EA also announced that it has extended its licensing deals with two professional soccer leagues. The publisher reached an agreement with the Premier League for an additional four years of licensing, extending the deal through the 2010-2011 season. EA also extended its partnership with the Mexican First Division League, but no terms were announced.

FIFA 07 is being released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Game Boy Advance, and PC. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's preview.

I agree with most of these comments. Rooney was not a good choice, i don't know why EA chose him, instead they should have Totti, Henry, or Cristiano Ronaldo. I thought that Ronaldinho was a good choice because he is one of the best players in the game of soccer. I was also thinking that maybe EA should try putting players that not everyone knows. Promoting other players then the "top dogs". But then again that may not appeal to everyone. Or maybe have more then just 2 or 3 players on the cover. Anyway, Ronaldinho was a good choice but Rooney was not.

After my opinion Cannavaro and C.Ronaldo deserves the front this year but it would be extremly good if they look at someone much better then wayne rooney...afcourse Henry i mean...he is a great french player and a legend. 3 world cups!

He is probably the greatest player in the world right now,but i am whrealy disappointment because is is not fair-again RONALDINHO psc I dont think he is better than Fabio Cannavaro,David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldu,Zinadine Zidane,--->I can say only it's stupid in the FIFA 07 cover can be Fabio Cannavaro and David Beckham.

I think you're all forgetting that the cover will feature different soccer stars according to the area in which you live in (i.e. Wayne Rooney in England, Landon Donovan is the USA and Lukas Podolski in Germany, ect...), its not like Ronaldinho is the only one on the covers. SO STOP CRYING.....But if i had to pick one player for the cover itd be Cristianado Ronaldo, despite my hatred of him, he carried his team to the quarter finals of the world cup and played great on Manchester last season

This cover isn't cool as FIFA 06 (http://img.clubic.com/photo/00142287.jpg)...
at least your suggestions are good. Zidane's headbutt.... Ronald McDonald... LOL!

Well...Barcelona did win the Champions league and he is Barcelona's top star...plus the FIFA series in recent years has concetrated on bringing the CLUB Soccer expierience to videogames, so it's fair that Ronaldhino is on the front cover. But he's not the only TOP NOTCH Soccer Player that's on the planet, and putting Ronaldhino again on the cover, gives out the impression that he's the only Soccer SUPERSTAR around...which is completely false.

EA should make the game cover more for everybody, instead of a single star(the world cup gave us an example of TEAMWORK...ITALY played like a team and they are ALL CHAMPIONS)....i think that's the main point everyone is trying to make to the guys who pick the cover stars for the FIFA games.

If the FIFA is about International Club Soccer Teams, make the cover with all the stars around the globe...that would be really great, and Nobody could possibly complain about that.

Zidane on the cover? Sure. But not for Fifa 07. Maybe put him on the cover of the next Tekken as a special playable character.

He is probably the greatest player in the world right now. It is about talent and respect, and he has both.
