Train Simulator 2 E3 2003 Preshow Report
The sequel to Microsoft's Train Simulator will be on hand at this year's E3.
Microsoft will have Train Simulator 2 on display at this year's E3. The sequel, like the original game, will let you assume the role of a train engineer and conduct train rides with realistically modeled trains and routes in real-world locations.
Train Simulator 2 will feature 13 different 3D train cabs, including US steam locomotives. Each cab will feature realistically modeled gauges and controls that can be used to direct trains on their routes. Train Simulator 2 will let you play an objective-based game that will require you to meet specific deadlines and schedules for ferrying passengers and cargo to and from their destinations. The game will model historically accurate routes along some of the most famous railroads in both Europe and the US, including Germany's Deutsche Bahn and the Pennsylvania railroad of the mid-20th century.
However, if you don't care to race the clock, you'll also have the option to see the world of Train Simulator 2 through the eyes of a passenger. Whether you're driving them or just along for the ride, your trains will pass through detailed 3D environments, including train stations, cities, and wilderness areas, each of which will be populated by fully animated people and animals.
Train Simulator 2 is currently in development at Kuju Entertainment, the large European studio that developed the original game. The game is scheduled for release this fall.
