UK game chart: March 4-10

GRAW2 enters the all-formats chart at number one, relegating Final Fantasy XII to second place.

When it launched back in March 2006, the original Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter peaked at the number two position on the UK all-format game chart. Its follow-up, the imaginatively titled Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, has managed to outdo its predecessor by hitting the top spot in its first week of release, despite only being available on the Xbox 360 at this point.

This means that Ubisoft's sequel has knocked the PlayStation 2-exclusive Final Fantasy XII down to second place after two weeks at the top, although the epic role-playing game remained the best-selling game on that console. GRAW2 also managed to hold off the budget release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories on the PS2, which helped propel the Rockstar title back into the Top 40 at number three, after spending a number of weeks in the chart last year after its release on the PlayStation Portable. Of the other games that were released last week, none of them managed to break into the all-formats top 10--Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis showed up way down at number 32.

The rest of the top 10 was made up of the usual suspects--football titles FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6, The Sims 2 and its Seasons expansion, and Brain Training. The exceptions are Microsoft's Crackdown, which fell from last week's number two to this week's five, and the Wii-exclusive Sonic and the Secret Rings, which gained one place to move up to four.

This week sees the release of Test Drive Unlimited on the PC and PlayStation 2, SSX Blur on the Wii, and Pimp My Ride on the Xbox 360, all of which could make an impact on next week's chart. On the handheld side, Nintendo's DS will see the release of Spectrobes, Phoenix Wright 2, and Rayman Raving Rabbids, while the PSP is finally being treated to Championship Manager 2007.

    ... yea.. FFXII it deffenetly the game with the best grafik of all the PS2 games..
    its just a damm good game..

    HXCDEW, don't you just love the way that the Superbowl winners are described as World Champions even though only American teams take part, the same with baseball, but when they finally played a national baseball tournament they got beaten by Mexico. Superb.

    What is GTA still doing on the charts!? Its dull, repetitive, unimaginative and the same as the last couple of games they repainted. Apart from that only dissappointed ff 12 fell. Haven't played GRAW 2 yet so I won't comment on its position.

    Well said TTDog. Americans only know how to steal from other sports. FOOTBALL is the biggest sport in the world. How many countries play "American football"?! Hell even more countries play RUGBY, and it's played by real men the way it's meant to be. Not sissies that look like they're wearing armadillo hats and gorilla suits.

    zsc4, the word you are looking for is football (not soccer), a game where the ball moves because its been kicked with the foot (hence FOOT-BALL), rather than that American malarky where the "football" is thrown or carried and kicked maybe 10 or 12 times in the entire game.

    Football games are so popular for the same reason NFL games are so popular in the US, its cos its our national sport. and just like the american audiance, we too cant be arsed to go and play the actual game ourselves, its much easier to just use ure thumbs

    The UK game charts are always very interesting, mainly because they always have to have a soccer game in it. IMO soccer games are too boring and don't deserve to be in the top 10. But then again thats my opinion and the British have their own.

    Sanguis_Malus has a good point. just rent all those shooter games as they are EXTREMELY short. i won't do that with a ff game 'though. i spent over 200 hours on ffxii.

    if TDU does come out on the ps2, i wouldnt get your hopes up about it.. i had that game on the 360 and took it back within 2 days and got a differant game, its got no story line, the game skips oftenly, when you get money together and drive to the car dealership and get a police chase, they will take at least 30-40k off you, really is ridiculous! its fun for the first hour or so.

    don't u talk like that for FF 8-13. They are also great games to be played, don't be such a narrow-minded geek. Anyway, they will release TDU on PS2? good then.

    i thought ff died with number 7? I didn't even know they made 8-13. I guess it's because they're **** and also because i don't give a **** How many times can you level up a 16 year old sword weilding cross dressing **** before it gets old?

    i love sony fans ff12 in 2nd now so why ff13 will be a super game?? why ff games are old news now oo and keep crying cuz we play graw2 now and you ps3 owner in 5 more months haha get use to it

    u r clearly a Sony fanboy! i own GRAW 2 and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the frame rate infact graphically and performance wise its a beatiful game although it has other faults. plus you also gave gears a score of 5.9 i know that not everybody loved gears but 5.9 is just either ignorance or like i said you are a Sony fanboy and thers no need to post this kinda stuff here. you probably never even played GRAW 2 infact i doubt you even own an xbox 360.
