The Sims are in Season

Electronic Arts today announced a fifth add-on pack for the popular PC game series The Sims 2. The new addition, named The Sims 2 Seasons, will add the four seasons of the year to the game. The additions won't merely be cosmetic, as each will impact the sims' relationships, moods, skills, and careers in a unique way.

New activities such as building snowmen, ice skating, and playing games like Marco Polo in the pool have been added, and a fresh new wardrobe including summer dresses and ear muffs will keep sims looking sharp.

Other new content includes six new career paths to follow (gaming, adventure, music, law, journalism, and education) as well as new weather effects (snowstorms, thunderstorms, lightning bolts, and hailstones). The sims can also now harvest fruits and vegetables to make into energy drinks and love potions and can master new talents including gardening and catching fresh fish.

The Sims series, which has the player create virtual people and then furnish their houses, get them jobs, and try to advance their careers and personal relationships, has become one of the most successful games of all time and has been translated into 17 languages.

The Sims 2 Seasons will be released in Europe on February 23 and in the US on February 27. The expansion requires a full copy of The Sims 2 to play.

    I just can't wait to get Sims 2: seasons!!! I got all the expansion packs but this one is the greatest idea ever!!! Putting seasons in a virtual game is the best idea so far!!! I just can't wait to get it!

    I wonder when, if ever, would Maxis add motorbikes, bicycles, ATVs etc to the vehicle list. Not all people enjoy four wheel drives you know.

    Oooh, perhaps the next few expansions would revolve around themes like Sports, Sci-Fi, Festivities or whatever else one could think of. ..

    This is going to be great no doubt. But are they going to ever add more cars, lol. I would like that Im getting kind of bored of the ones that are there, I want more! This expansion would have been perfect for adding more cars, like maybe suvs for snow and such. Also I would like more options for businesses. LIke being able to make like a sign for your business with the name on it, like on that can hang on the building lit up. and another thing that would be nice is parking lots on community lots instead of parking the car in front of the lots. Sims around you shoudl drive cars too not only you. Well theres alot more than that i would like to see but cant write al of it down. Hope you see this Ea. Seasons is a great addition hopefully theres alot more great ones comin after.

    All I can say is that the sims series always lacked seasons!
    This should be a great addition to the game!

    I wonder if you can get your sims to stay in the pool during Winter and the water freezes over them =O...

    FINALLY...but it will be interesting if the seasons effect objects...like if you leave sth in the snow it will freeze or break....

    I'm so excited! When I heard about weather way back before TS2 vanilla was coming out, I thought it was just gonna be rain and maybe flashes of light acommpanied by thunder noises. But snowstorms, hailstorms, lightning BOLTS... That's just gonna be awesome. Not to mention the long-overdue new set of careers. I look forward to this EP more than I have for any of the others.

    This is the best expansion pack of The Sims 2.
    Gaming and Music careers, YEAH! Awesome.

    Players of this game have been asking for weather ever since the game was released. The players speak, and EA listens. Where possible, they include requests that players have asked for, weather being one of those requests. The problem was the programmers couldn't stop it from raining inside as well as outside. Now it looks like they finally solved that problem.

    Players of this game have been wanting weather ever since the original game was released. They had problems where the programming team couldn't stop it from raining inside the houses as well outside. It looks like they solved that problem. I for one will be definately getting this expansion.

    Goin to be "what to buy" list, for my sister specially cuz she's a big simulation fan(The Movies and The sims) anyway hope it's going to be the best expansion pack for Sims 2...
