Codemasters unveils new logo

UK-based developer and publisher decides on new corporate identity.

Kuju's Brighton studios raised a few eyebrows back in March when it announced it was rebranding itself as "fun and accessible" Zoë Mode. Today, UK publisher Codemasters has also decided on a corporate makeover, although it will be keeping the name and simply changing its logo.

The new logo will appear on all Codemasters' upcoming games, including soon-to-be-released Hospital Tycoon, DiRT, and Overlord.

Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens describes the new logo as "bold and enigmatic," and comments, "Much like our in-house talent, the new logo can flex its creative muscles. It doesn't have a set colour; it may appear in a wide range of colour or tonal combinations. To that end, it's a logo that always has an element of the maverick about it."

Codemasters was originally founded in 1985 by Richard and David Darling, and released games including the Dizzy series, and more recently the TOCA touring car series, the Colin McRae Rally series, and Brian Lara International Cricket. The company announced at its recent Code07 event--at an undisclosed location in the UK--that it was currently working on a number of titles, including Rise of the Argonauts, Operation Flashpoint 2, and Race Driver One. I guess now that E3 has gone, this logo can be used

The sweet thing about it is that it hasn't gor a solid colour like the old logo, meaning it can subtly blend into any genre game that they want to make (not that important... but it adds to the overall ART of a game I suppose).

Alot of gamers forget how important a Logo is - its one of the most memorable parts of a game.
Take for instance "Seeeeggaaaaaaa"... A logo is seen whenever you start up a game, if you had a crap logo, with a crap logo sound - that start button will probably be mashed up to heck.. hehe

The Logo is much better then the previous one, now we need the company to start thinking about its in-game graphics, hopefully sharpen them up and then they could become a leading producer.

It's a pretty good logo, a lot better than the old one at least. It's simple, but looks really nice.

I like it, better than the old one. Too blue though. I'd prefer red/green or something.

I like it very much, & also the ingenuity of the logo's design, as well.

    Good, good.
Finally they step away from stealing Nintendo's "track" logo.

Codemasters old track logo: http://www.generationmp3.com/generationpsp/images/Air%20one/SS_Codemasters_logo.jpg ...much like Nintendo's track logo: http://media.bestofmicro.com/3/W/140/3/140.jpg

Did they really need a new corporate logo? Most redesigns are just a waste of money. I actually preferred the old version.
