Ubisoft gets Ukrainian foothold

International publisher's Kiev studio expanding from a dozen devs to 50 in the next year, will contribute to PC version of Tom Clancy's HAWX.

Ubisoft may be a French company, but the publisher is about as global as it gets. Today the company heralded the latest expansion of its multinational internal-development studio system: a new studio in Kiev, Ukraine. Built upon a core group of a dozen developers, the Kiev studio will expand to a staff of 50 within the next year.

The Kiev team has already supported development efforts on the PC version of Blazing Angels: Secret Missions of WWII. It will likewise contribute to the PC edition of its modern-day successor, Tom Clancy's HAWX, working with the Romanian arm of the publisher, Ubisoft Bucharest. Between those two teams and Bulgarian branch Ubisoft Sofia, the publisher plans to grow its Eastern European presence to more than 800 employees by 2009.

    Well actually there is a Crimson Skies 2, it's just not named 2, and is an xbox exclusive, ther for it does not exist . And about the rioting in front of their building, why don't we riont inside their building, maybe while we playtest Assassin's Creed 2, without making noise. I think they will do a good job, they have the experience of flight sims from the previous games, and well, we always have those two migs in case they need first hand experience, let's just hope they don't crash like the last 7.

    Yeay i'm from ROMANIA ...i promise you if they don't do a good job for HAWX i'm going to start a riot in front of theyr buidling ! =))

    meh i just want an IL3 or crimson skies 2 but all we get is blazing angels

    Great !!! Ukrainians do have their knowledge and passion for an achivment in something great ! No doubt that it may become one of the UBisoft's main development team ! Just look @ GSC (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - that game still amazes me !)
