Shockwave Productions has today announced the development of Air Power: WWII Heavy Bombers and Jets--an expansion pack for Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004. The game will add a number of World War II aircraft to the game, including the following:
B17F and B17G "Flying Fortress"
B29A "Super Fortress"
B24D and B24J "Liberator"
PB4Y-2 "Privateer"
Lancaster BIII and "Grand Slam"
Ar234 "Blitz Bomber"
Ta183 "Huckebein Raven"
He162 "Salamander"
"Flying these amazing aircraft through the beautiful cities and landscapes around the world is just breathtaking. You wont be able to stop looking at them. These heavies have such enormous cockpits, with switches, levers, and dials everywhere that are all functional and so real, we refer to the actual WWII pilot manuals while flying," said Scott Gentile, CEO of Shockwave Productions. "Air Power takes full advantage of Microsofts latest technology and all the powerful features beneath the hood. The wonderful thing about Microsofts latest flight simulator is all the detail and depth that can be programmed in--casual gamers can just jump in, throw the throttle forward, and take off in seconds. We are very excited about Air Power and proud of everyone on the Air Power team for putting their powerful magic into another amazing game."
All of the aircraft in the expansion will feature both 3D- and 2D-rendered working cockpits and authentic flight models. The expansion will contain 50 missions, including a number that involve attending air shows and PR events.
No release date has been announced for Air Power: WWII Heavy Bombers and Jets at this time. We'll bring you more information on the expansion as soon as it becomes available.- GameSpot Score8.2great
