i agree that the fact u can lay siege to castle and stuff like that is neat and that the game focus pvp lot more then pve wich wow got a big lack but gameplay wise id choose wow.

1st i dont like people making remarks and basing this game on WOW> 1st of all the difference between the to is the big facter of RVR something WOW doesn't have, You can spend an age protecting the forts from enemy players, u can lay seiges on enemy castles something u cant do on WOW. The story behind this also works with the lore of Warhammer, some hardcaore warhammer fans would say that theres not a chance that Dwarfs and High Elves would fight side by side but when u are face with annialation things change. All in all, this game is like WOW but not the same i think its alot better because of the better graphics, characters and the RVR aspect. The only ppl that would disagree are WOW fanatics which spend 22 hours a day on it!

looks like interesting gameplay. i play WoW for pve, and i say this game looks like it has some pvp strengths.

Its a boring repetitive game that's almost EXACTLY like WOW. I love warhammer but the fundamentals behind this game are so screwed by its deluded. Also the game is seeded with so many bugs and systemic design failure it makes the head giddy.

My vote is dead against this money making scam. So much for free thinking and innovation.

The game is fantastic. I was in a 5hour RvR (or PvP) in level 6, unheard of in WoW where I had to twink my characters. The game has a great community too. Love it.

    @ Fozzo

Learn your facts. Warrhammer was around before WOW and WOW was supposed to be Warhammer based but, it was a dropped and blizzard took the Warhammer concept and made there own. So no WAR is not a copy of WOW.

this game couldn't have an arena, cause an arena assumpts organisation and in the game lore an uncontrollable war exists, you couldn't get the 2 sides to agree to that. Its not like wow where the 2 sides are in truce and even co-operate some times. In warhammer lore its "kill on sight".As for the graphics the only bad thing about it ,is that they feel"bland" sometimes, but the detail is really good. It's just that more people have gotten used to wow's graphics that are simply ok(the character models that is,the enviroment range from good to awful)

  • Teh_Dana

Because WAR is RvR game. Arenas are good for games like Quake 3, UT ... or WoW.

This game copied from WoW. War hammers revolutionary "Queue up for instanced battlegrounds" was copied right back. But O SHiiIZ!!! since the WoW servers are clustered, you don't have to wait an hour to get into PvP.

This game is terrible. I can't believe they didn't bother trying to "CLUSTER" their pvp battlegrounds (or whatever they call them in W.A.R.). In WoW, the Instanced and Arena PvP is clustered amoung 10 or so servers, so your Queue times to get into PvP is minimal. Does W.A.R. even have a rated Arena ladder system? How can a MMO that claims to have the best PVP have no rated Arena's with 2v2, 3v3, 5v5? Also, what's up with the terrible graphics of this game? Mythic had 4 years to try to come up with a game with better graphics. WoW graphics are far superior with its improved shading and new high res textures and runs at a nice 60 FPS (compared to the 2 FPS in WAR) in large battles.

Did they ever fix their Keybind bug? I mapped keys like [ ] , . to my 10 button mouse and W.A.R. didn't save my keybinds! so frustrating. What a crappy game.

I used to play WoW, then I switched to this....and I liked this better because of the PvP. The major thing about it though, was that it didn't have the WoW addiction factor. What ended up happening was that I stopped playing MMO's altogether, because Warhammer just wasn't as satisfying as the experiences I would get from my Xbox or other games, but it didn't suck me in like WoW did. So I still play video games of course, but I am glad I got over my WoW addiction (been 3 months so far though)

While I would agree that Fantasy is a much over-used genre for MMO's, Warhammer is the IP to use for a Fantasy MMO. To not use it would be a bit of a disservice, considering it spawned so many other iterations of itself, in terms of it's stylistic approach and "hard" take on high-fantasy. All you 40k guys just gotta wait another year or two for Ultima Segmentum, then we'll get our 40k mmo. Beyond that, I really highly suggest this MMO. Been playing since launch, and it's obvious to me that Mythic is dedicated to making this game simply much better. At least give it a shot on a high pop server first, where the Tier 1-3 is still very active.

i played WOW forr likee a year and a feww monthss. too be honest yeahh its cool and some things are exciting but relee itss the same boring quests one after another just against a different type of enemy. the only reason i played wow is cuss all my freindss didd. i think WAR iss deffinately better than wow cuss it just has moree too it. and the game has the potential to be sooooooooo good if it just had more ppl onitt. cuss the point of the game is goingg intoo a big battlefield with alott of ppl and just killing everyone in sightt. but thats only possible with alot of ppl,

To put it into simple terms, WAR's PvP is fantastic but the PvE and the world in general is a bit lacking (Also i find the colours in the game a little bland). Also if you have a midrange to highend machine and you are experiencing lag try bumping up the AA. The the game ran smoother on my 4870 the more samples i set my videocard to do.

to anarchy rising, Funcom (the same people that made conan) are making a game as you described called secret world that you should check out. theres not gonna be any lvls or clases, youll have to watch the interview to understand how that works but it sounds amazing. i know they messed up conan but i think they can do this one properly, atleast i hope. and they say that it will have a better combat system then conan too.

  • brunorr

AnarchyRising said it all. There is a game called Darkfall Online that has all he said but since it's from a small company it's been having a bumpy start. But so did Anarchy Online. Problem is no major company wants to try new things because they think the risk is too great.

    @AnarchyRising & FreshNoodles
WoW isn't cell shaded. Even a little. I wish people would learn the difference between cartoon and cell shading. They're not the same.
It's the same with Borderlands. As soon as people saw slightly manga/cartoon graphics someone shouted 'Call Shaded!' and everyone followed along. Look at Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and XIII. Those are cell shaded.

  • AnarchyRising

    Posted Apr 14, 2009 4:02 am PT

Why everyone clammers over WoW cel shaded cartoon graphics is beyond my scope of reasoning. I've played it, hate the graphics but dont really care because there is alot to do. After a while it gets boring yeah, so do ALL games. WAR though I hate. We need another Anarchy Online with better graphics (majorly), animations, and a UO style skil system. Screw levels and make it skill based ... Use the skill, it raises. Dont use it, it drops. I know WoW does that (sort of), but its still level based and just like any other out there IMO, aside from EVE. Did I mention WaR sucks (unless it matured, but still) .. then again nothing can be worse than Conan.

  • Styvan

    Posted Apr 9, 2009 3:51 am PT

I started War on Open Beta. The game was awful, bad animations and even worst itemization. I went back to WoW just to find out how boring WoW has become, great content leveling but only guild content in end game. So i tried out WAR again after some months form its launch. The game improved a lot, the community isn't that lacking and general chats aren't about kids' sexual frustrations as WoW ones are now. RvR or PvP are real fun, as a side note: I hate PvP, and don't ask you to grind 24/7 to have some fun. I'm not saying WAR > WoW, just that it should be tried out. 10 days free trial is a good offer and a nice chance to see something different...

this game blows, i did the free trial and its basically just as tedious as all the other mediocre MMOs out there, even DnD online is better than this and i tried that and there were prolly 5 people on at a time in the entire game. this game is just grey scenery over grey character models with hints of color. if they wanted a good warhammer mmo they woulda made it based off the futuristic version of it. peace

Graphical I doubt any1 addicted to wow will even look at any other than wow, and i agree, Wow with its cellshading is a winning touch. But WAR could be (and is) so much better than WoW if it just had a little more people, and now they are sending out free servermovement so every1 in the dead servers can join the big ones, theres very much life in Eltharion for example. just to keep the arguments simply; you still have a life after signing up for Warhammer. I cant spend all thoose hours on wow, ive tried, and it went bad. To few and youre kicked out from ur guild and loose lots of rating if you dont play frequent enough in pvp/arena. (wich doesnt matter couse the pvp part is pretty worthless in wow...)

    I quote towely62 100%.
WAR is slightly better than WoW (as it should be obvious. I mean....it got published three years later), but you really suffer the lack of people. And that's not just because there IS lack of people, but because the entire game structure was mented for huge groups of players (RvR, Public Quests, ...), so you suffer this lack of people even more than you would suffer it on any other mmorpg (WoW in first place).
I played WAR for several months. I was so trustfull, I immediately bought six months in one solution but I got back to WoW (after three years of absence) even before this six months elapsed (the WAR delusion renovate my desire to play mmorpg, so I bought the Burning Crusade and WotLK and got in line with the WoW universe again, wiping the dust from my Orc warrior I freezed three years ago). But as I play WoW, as funny as it could be, I cant' avoid to think about WAR and how much better than WoW it would be if only there were people on the servers.

I have played wow and warhammer and it is pretty much this simple. PVE WoW or PVP WAR. They both have their ups and their downs but that is what it pretty much boils down to. I would suggest everyone to at least try it I mean it is free for 10 days now!

  • DavDeF

    Posted Mar 31, 2009 5:48 pm PT

I got this game on release and played it for 2 months and got involved in a guild and what not and just tried to enjoy it but it comes to a dead point once you really get some momentum going in the game getting items and professions and reach rank there really is nothing more to do and most of the world turns into a big stale mate with weak PVE and stalemate rvr scenarios that really gain you nothing of much consequence when all is said and done. They try to implement in world events with special items but it always ends up being confusing and distracting from what should be good rvr territory grabs. All in all i ended up buying lich king set and just going back to wow as wow is pretty much the same thing but with 10x more content.
