Monday: We play Oblivion for 12 straight hours

[UPDATE] GameSpot's first-ever Live Gameplay Marathon begins Monday, March 20, featuring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Early next week, GameSpot subscribers will have a chance to get an extensive firsthand look at Bethesda's next highly anticipated role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...or rather, a secondhand look. We'll be bringing you a live feed of our first marathon stretch playing the retail Xbox 360 version of the game (prospective players should be wary of potential spoilers).

GameSpot executive editor Greg Kasavin will be driving the game, offering commentary about the experience as it transpires. Subscribers will hear and see Kasavin as he spends an increasing number of successive hours playing the game, and they will be able to chat with each other over the course of the event. However, Kasavin will not have access to the chat room, to avoid any outside influences on his time spent evaluating the game.

In summary:

What: GameSpot Live Gameplay Marathon, featuring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360)
When: Monday, March 20, 6:00 p.m. PT - Tuesday, March 21, 6:00 a.m. PT (subject to change...but what could possibly go wrong?!)
Why: Because it's better than a case of the Mondays. And because we know you want to see and play Oblivion as much as we do.

Expect written hands-on impressions, HD gameplay videos, and high-resolution images of the game to appear on GameSpot next week. However, to be among the first to experience Oblivion in raw, unfiltered form, and to get impressions directly from one of our editors as he plays, you'll have to tune in to our live feed.

It was a great broadcast, IMO. I pay for a membership to support GameSpot, because this way they can afford to send me a 12 HOUR STRAIGHT marathon of a wonderful looking game. I do believe that segments should possibly be put up for download, however, because my internet went down at 4:00 and I missed the end of it. /sad. Oh well, can't really complain. It was a great broadcast. I was going to be up all night coding anyway, this helped me through.

But seriously, a little bit of downloadable segments would be nice... Or just rebroadcast it. That'd make me happy.

    Thanks guys, great job Greg!

I enjoyed watching this, and it's not that much money, I find this to be much better than a magazine subscription and costs me less than a magazine.

Thanks for this marathon, it was fun to watch for a little while and made me want to give this game a try when it hits the PCs (No xbox360 here)

Hate to break it you guys, but bandwidth costs money. Why would GS throw away a ton of money so you freeloaders can watch?

    crycrycry

Get a job and poney up some cash.

Seriously, GS you are becoming money grabbers, just like Intel and Micro$oft. You want us to pay you so we watch some guy (fat) play a game and gain weight while telling us, "Oh yea we have awesome chests everywhere". I bet you probably less than 200 people, not even 100 people who subscribe are going to watch this. I ain't paying just to watch a guy play, which I will have the game by then, it is kind of pointless don't you think? I pity you losers at GS, it is a first time thing, and you are making us pay to watch a great idea that popped up in your head, "Hey lets make a bunch of guys sit around a T.V. and play the Xbox360 and Oblivion for 12 hours straight, OMG I'm a genius".

Two words guys. You Suck. Seriously.

And you miss to explain one thing more in the "why you do it section"

Why: Simple, to take and suck so much money we can. We want to earn and be rich on you people. Otherwise we should brodcast it for you for free if we did´t had the disare to get your money

Why do you want to have our money to see you play TES4? Should you pay money to me if I broadcast over internet to you? I can do that. What are you saying, only $0.50 and you can see me in hours playing Oblivion

Are you serious? Paying subscribers only? This is a really great idea, but no offense, I paid my money, for the game, which I'm going to go play now instead. Thanks for the offer though
