Knights of the Nine ride on 360, PC next month

Extra quests in PS3 version of Elder Scrolls IV will be made available on other platforms--for a price.

When Bethesda Softworks revealed last month that it was working on a PlayStation 3 edition of its hit PC and Xbox 360 role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it also detailed some of the new content that was being added to the mix. The PS3 edition of the game introduces a new faction in the Knights of the Nine, as well as new characters, locations, armor, and weapons.

Now some of that content is going to be showing up in the other versions of the game as well. Bethesda today announced that it will self-publish Knights of the Nine, an expansion pack for the Xbox 360 and PC editions of Oblivion.

Knights of the Nine will feature the new faction of the title, as well as new quests, the ability to found a new order of holy knights, suitably divine weapons and armor, and a plotline that includes backstory on the Ayleid ruins found throughout the original game.

Interestingly enough, Knights of the Nine will be a downloadable add-on for both platforms, but PC gamers will also have the option to purchase it at retail in a package that includes all the previously released Oblivion content packs, from horse armor to spell tomes. A PC expansion for the game was originally spotted on GameStop's Web site last month, although it carried the incorrect name "Knights of the White Stallion."

Bethesda has not released pricing information for the expansion pack, but GameStop had priced the "White Stallion" expansion at $19.99. Both the Xbox 360 and PC editions of Knights of the Nine are set to be released November 21.

Last night I bought my first $12.50 of Microsoft Points and spent them on the majority of Oblivion downloads. It would suck if I had to purchase all of these downloads again. I'm just wondering if 360 owners will have the option of downloading just the "Knights" add-on with out having to purchase the other content.

Gamespot doesn't seem to have mentioned it yet, but according to the official download site, it's not coming out until Dec. 4. Sucks to have to wait, but I suppose it's not too bad a delay.

Oblivion is awesome, only it gets boring once you get too powerful. I have completed all the major quests for my main character, now this update is what the game needs.

As soon as I hear extras are going into another version of my game - for free - I am miffed I have to pay for it for my version! Especially when those extras should have been part of the original game or a free patch!!! I mean, it's not as if Bethesda doesn't save $100,000's by having modders do the patching and 'upgrades/fixes' for them free of charge! How about a pay back? When you look at the mods available for this game, both in scope and quality, and with the modders quite happy to make these available for free, I don't know what Bethesda would have to release for me to be impressed and think it's worth whatever they're charging!

I think Oblivion is a great game, but is it really necessary to pack up previous available downloads and other stuff for what seeming purpose? Atleast Tribunal and Bloodmoon had extra land masses and the like (I have bloodmoon, I believe, but never managed to get a character level high enough to see the place).

With all the freely available mods and stuff, I don't see the point, unless it Massively changes the course of the end situation and of course they fix the stuff that's broken.

Is it enough of an expansion to justify $20, thats what im wondering.

eh, im over oblivion... im leveled out and cant go any higher, thought the previously availible dl's were gonna be cool but it really didnt add anything to the game... with the screwy leveling system its a sure thing im not going to start a new character... and if some of these more extensive 'expansions' dont start adding acheivements (like graw ch2 and lumines adv and puzzle pack) im not interested... (the latter is just looking like an underhanded way of not letting you see the total price for the whole game)....and expecially if you lay out another 20 - 30 bucks for a game you already paid 60 for it should have some extra achievements...
