Runestone gets in bed with Alchemic Dream

Danish developer enlists the aid of massively multiplayer game support specialists for upcoming debut title, Seed.

Runestone Game Development today announced that it has contracted Alchemic Dream to assist in the customer support, localization, and game mastering of its upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Seed. The Danish developer's debut title looks to be a significant departure from standard MMORPGs. For one thing, Seed has eliminated combat from the player experience entirely. Set in the far future on a distant planet, players will have to work together to shape the gameworld as they see fit. Seed will join a long list of MMORPGs that use the Quebec-based Alchemic Dream's services, including Dungeons and Dragons Online, Second Life, RF Online, and Project Entropia.

guess what.... URU live is combat free, and it is still a great game. Probably becaus eits built around a much better story. But I would,'t say removing combat is a bad move, if it's replaced by something else of interest. Of course you would want to play a game without combat. In my case, I like shooters. But I need time to play games that dont include killing all the time. Rather thinking all the time. SEED is that kind of game.

No combat, portentially a risky move.

. . . eliminating combat is certainly new for a MMORPG

Not one of the most relevant headlines, but an amusing one nonetheless.

I dont get what they mean by "shape the gameworld"? Is this going to be some sort of Second Life rip off?
