First look: Priest

JC Entertainment is working on a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the Wild West. Screenshots inside.

JC Entertainment is currently developing Priest, an online role-playing game set in the Wild West. The game combines elements of role-playing, horror, and first-person shooters in an unusual setting based on the popular Korean comic book Priest. Min-Woo Hyung, the author of the comic book series, is working with the development team.

The game follows the story of Ivan Isaacs, a former priest who sold his soul to battle an evil fallen archangel known as Temozarela. Players will assume the role of one of 30 playable characters, and they will explore large 3D worlds with more than 12 major towns filled with traditional Western characters such as sheriffs, gunmen, and cowboys, as well as supernatural elements like zombies, secret religious cults, and sorcery.

Priest will feature a unique player vs. player combat system, as well as large-scale battles between warring factions competing for control of strategic towns and resource areas. Through the course of the game, characters will improve their personal skills and marksmanship, gain wealth by taking control of resources, and earn a reputation through player vs. player battles.

We've posted some screenshots in the gallery above that show off some of the characters and environments that players will encounter in the game. Priest is scheduled for release in 2003. For more information, visit the official Priest Web site.
