NCsoft posts record revs

Full-year stats see online game publisher tally more than $300 million in revenues, a record for the company behind Lineage, Guild Wars, Villains.

NCsoft took its act on the road and wowed them in Des Moines and Detroit. The Seoul-based company reported full-year revenues through December 31, 2005, of $346.5 million, a 17 percent increase over the previous fiscal year. Interestingly, the bulk of that success came not from their home market of Korea, but from overseas.

Due to costs and expenses, however, both operating income and pretax income fell by 21 and 13 percent, respectively. Operating income for FY 2005 was $20.6 million, while pretax income for the year measured $23.7 million.

Contributing to growth of top-line revenues were overseas sales: the company saw a 37 percent increase in sales from the North American market and 22 percent increase from the European market.

Looking ahead, the company is targeting revenue growth in the current fiscal year of another 17 percent, with a product mix (based on percentage of revenues contributed) estimated over the year as follows: Lineage, 27 percent; Lineage 2, 29 percent; Guild Wars, 13 percent; City of Heroes/City of Villains, 10 percent; new games, 14 percent; and royalties, 7 percent.

Well i spent 1012 hours in 6 months playing Guild Wars. I got bored after about 700 hours of gameplay. Lol. Anyways I like to see companies like this.
    1. They feel with the gamers
    2. NO MONTHLY FEES in GW
    3. Added content with not in insane cost

all these attributes are at level 16 if you know what i mean , unlike other companies like EA which destroy the little guys like Westwood, and destroy the legacy making the games easier to make with only improved graphics and not gameplay. Arena net has a very good community. They have events and you can actually design in game items. I really feel a part of the whole thing and not like the consumer vs. the company like how i feel with EA.

Guild Wars Is horrible as well as COH/COV I bought and have played all 3. They are so isolated and non-random that the games seems more like a single Player game. D&D Stormreach took their concept 1 step further and made EVERYTHING instanced. If NCsoft made their games more detailed and Complex I might have stayed. Atleast you don't rely on gear and raidng which is different. Out of the 3 GW is best but I dislke the instanced worlds.
NCSOFT has alot of good MMO's for casul players and hardcore alike. None of them however measure up close to the greatness of WoW.

Great work pay. Guild wars is an interesting fee-free concept. Ironically enough I found the same concept on one of their other great games -Lineage 2 (but that's on a private run server ;-p )

Guild Wars is an awsome game and i cant wait for the expansion. Long live NCsoft and their great devolpers such as Arena.Net. Edit:@a_tru_christan NCsoft isnt a devolper they are a publisher. They have several companies that devolpe for them such as Arena.Net which made guild wars.

NCSoft---> great developer. City of Heros and Guild Wars are both great games (if u haven't tried City of Heros, do so, its soooo fun). I hope NCSoft gets big enough to buy EA out and whip EA back into shape.

I liked Guild Wars even though I'm not big into mmo games much. Does anyone know perhaps by chance they'll make something for the xbox 360 I mean just look at Webzen & Square Enix. Them being such a successful company in that market why the hell not. I would not be surprised to hear some kind of announcement like that at E3 this May.

Not to mention, they're actually taking risks and trying out new MMO designs like Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa. In that way, NC kind of feels like a console developer--trying original IP and ideas. ps: Auto Assault apparently plays great w/ a 360 controller.
