Enlight Studios has revealed that it is working on a third-person 3D game based on the life and battles of Joan of Arc. The game will let players assume the role of Joan of Arc, who in 1429 famously inspired the forces of the French crown prince to victory and helped to turn the tide of the Hundred Years' War. The game will combine fast-action combat, RPG character development, and real-time strategy elements in an epic military campaign that will include some of the most intense historical battles of medieval Europe.

As Joan of Arc, players will make the transformation from peasant to warrior and will directly enter the fray. Joan of Arc can slash enemies with her sword and use dozens of unique combo attacks that require careful timing. It'll be possible to learn new fighting techniques, and there's an increasingly powerful arsenal of weaponry that Joan of Arc can unleash on her foes. The intensity and brutality of medieval warfare will be vividly represented in huge battles that take place in nine massive maps complete with strongholds, living cities, and varied landscapes.

The game will feature a new proprietary 3D graphics engine designed to render detailed terrain and vast legions of French and English troops. Joan of Arc will feature a series of individual battles as well as larger strategic campaigns between the French and English.

"Joan of Arc captures the true essence of medieval Europe with its historical depiction of the battles, weaponry, and people Joan of Arc encountered as she led the resistance to the English invasion of France," said Trevor Chan, founder of Enlight. "The game uniquely combines action and strategy elements and will give players the chance to fully experience the incredible journey of this important era."

Joan of Arc is scheduled for release in mid-November. We'll have more on the game in the coming months.
