360 FFXI, Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion dated

Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360, Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion for PCs, PS2s land in US in April.

One of Microsoft's big announcements at E3 2005 was the debut of the Final Fantasy series on a Microsoft console--the Xbox 360, to be exact. What wasn't known was the game's release date--until now. Square Enix today announced that Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360 will be available in North America on April 18. Two days later, the game will be available in Japan and Europe.

The massively multiplayer online role-playing game will be an all-in-one package, combining the original game plus the three expansion packs: Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, and the all-new Treasures of Aht Urhgan.

PlayStation 2 and PC players desperate for the expansion needn't get in an uproar. Treasures of Aht Urhgan is getting a multiplatform release, and will also ship on April 18 for the PS2 and PC.

Included in the new expansion will be new jobs, such as the Blue Mage and Corsair, new monsters and realms to explore, as well as tweaks to gameplay like those found in previous expansions.

Pricing for the expansion and the Xbox 360 version have not yet been announced. For more details, check out GameSpot's hands-on with the beta test of FFXI for the Xbox 360.

    Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection (comes with the game FFXI, Rize of the Zilar and Chains of Promathia), is 29.99 for both expansion(not $160)
    ~~~(now if u dont by The Vana'diel Collection)
    FFXI comes witth Rize of the Zilar, is 19.99 now.
    Chains of Promathia is 19.99 is the same
    plusTreasures of Aht Urhgan the new expansion is going to be 19.99-29.99 by its self(so i dont think it adds up 2 be $160)
    Did everybody forget that the 360 version comes with all 3 expansion packs on one disc..60 dollars for the 360 version or...
    PC version $30? plus chains $30 plus treasures #30 = around 90 or 100
    ps2 version 100 plus hard drive..30 for chains..30 for treasures = around 160
    come on people..dont be stupid on this. If you wanna cut costs go for the 360 version cuz a graphics card is added to the mix for the PC version and the PS2 version cuts the support for the hard drive so that version is useless. If you want the game and you don't have the necessary graphics card..then get a 360 w/hard drive and get the 360 version. I have the beta free version for the 360 and its quite fun but the customization sucks for the characters and the battles are sorta like auto fights cuz you dont press any buttons to fight but only to target..other than that its a good game. Sorry if my message had poor grammar and stuff..oh well...
    thats pathetic. the first square enix game for the 360 is a game already out for the PS2 and the PC. theyre supposed to be making NEXT-generation games. not a PS2 game in high-definition.
    well this game is really for anyone that doesnt have a good pc to run it, cause seriously, this game is the same thing as the ps2, just high def, and i can barely see a difference in the graphics and frame rate and lag are still bad
    i been playing the beta since it came out on Feb 17 and I also have all three version ps2 pc and xbox and honestly my pc had an okay graphic card but the framerate wasn't that good and the ps2 ran good but the graphics weren't that great. Now that I am playing it on the xbox it looks like the pc but plays very smooth and the futher drawing distance added to the 360 really makes the game look the best. From all the versions I have to say the 360 is the best one. However if you have a highed PC card you won't see a big difference from PC to 360. You will see a big difference from Ps2 to 360 especially in HD. To all those wondering if you will be able to access your ps2 or pc account on 360 that is a yes. You will but you can't be log on at same time with the same account. Also the only reason you can't use your chacater in the beta version its because it is beta it was made to test things.
    I've got a serious addiction I'm trying to fight... I've quit this game four times, including quitting the 360 beta. Now I hear this game's got a whole new nation, pirates and gamblers, and now blue mages..... *bangs head on table* "Just hook it to my veins!"
    This game sounds more like a job that you have to pay for it as you "work." I'm only a fan of FF VII and FFVIII (my fave). What makes SE think that their game is so great. I hope Halo never becomes Mmo; per say as long as we wont have to pay monthly.
    >> Will I be able to access my PS2 Character from my 360?
    From the way the beta is setup right now, 360-beta players can only play on the test-server "Hydra", and nothing else as of now.
    As for when the official thing comes out, odds are very good the character data will be cross-compatible between the 3 platform releases. The only thing that is needed on each console is the expansion packs installed if you want to travel to a specific area that isn't included in the original FFXI.
    For the new expansion, currently awaiting it here for my PC & PS2. I hope that it adds some new gameplay elements the game is starting to grow stale from with its current setup. One thing I worry is that ToA will add enough new elements (monster-town raids for example) that the rest of the game looks pale in comparison, and I take it SquareEnix will not take any of these new elements and apply them to the rest of the game to balance out the areas.
    (aside from the new jobs)
