Awesome interview. To think that he's made all that amazing, mood moving music without any formal theory training is mind blowing! He is without a doubt one of my top all time favorite musicians!

His compositions for the original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles were the most amazing. They're the only game sound tracks I have ever downloaded from iTunes.

My man Nobuo rocking it with his gangsta bandana.
Great interview for the most part. I thought it just seemed weird that you had a woman do a voice over it threw me off as a pun at first. I just wish that Nobuo could have given us some real response on his favorite piece or game. I can't stand it when people do that. I'm guessing he doesn't want to create a fanboy war, but I love those.

Uematsu-san is undoubtedly a compositional genius. I'm a huge fan. I think he's at the same level as great movie composers such as John Williams and James Horner. Can't wait to hear some of his new stuff.

Great interview, but please, for the love of God--next time you do one of these, give us subtitles rather than a dub. I'd sooner read a transcript than listen to a dub.

Loved the interview even if it was a girl. This guy is amazing and i love hearing about how things happened. Composing that pure stroke of genius in like 5 minutes is epic!!

    Very nice video guys!
While I'd like subbing, the dubbing was very well done and didn't bother me at all.

Square should be ever thankful because they would never have stood out if Uematsu hadn't composed the soundtrack for FF.

I hope you plan on interviewing Mitsuda soon

For those of you who love Nobuo Uematsu's music, you guys should listen to the Black Mages. It's his band covering FF songs... with rock awesomeness.

Certainly the greatest video game music composer of all-time! Too bad the video is really boring.

    @bodylotion
I've never actually played FFVII (somehow) but I've seen Advent Children and played Crisis Core, both have amazing music and I guess FFVII is the same. My favorite music is in FFX.

DUBBING?!!! How about subbing? YOU TWITS!!! I do not want to listen to someone else talking, just because I can't understand doesn't mean I don't want to hear the sounds, is he happy , sad? Is he excited or bored? C'mon guys get with it~!!!

I'd prefer subtitles to lame female translator voice. Or at the very least the choice.

  • zeniftan

    Posted Aug 1, 2009 9:59 am PT

The interview was great. I'm GLAD it was given a voice over, as it allow's me to look at the person talking. Instead of spend the whole time staring at the word's at the bottom of the screen.

To those who are moaning about the simple thing that the sex of the person doing the voice-over. Please stop!(no insult intended) It's giving me a headache when I watch something that was really well done and people moan about something. Just be happy that Gamespot even did this feature.
    I am.

@sternh - no, it's not me, we had a translator.

Sophie is that your voice? It's done very nicely! I enjoyed your tone and occasional laughter. Although I can understand why some of you prefer subtitle, I loved this voice over because the voice and its tone are very well fit.

Also, I like special features like this, more please!

Nobuo Uematsu is THE man! Of all his work i like the Lost Odyssey theme the most

  • DAOWAce

    Posted Aug 1, 2009 6:56 am PT

No subtitles. It feels like he's being insulted as his voice is being muted.

I have to watch this in segments or else I get too annoyed at the female voice-over. *sigh*

Nonetheless, glad to see an interview with Uematsu.

wow im so impressed...his interviews are always so inspiring...but i really dont get whats so fascinating about bikes...but his simple wish to be a mailman makes him even more likable...great man

  • Architeuthis83

I prefer the female voice-over to a man's. But nevertheless, subtitles would be better, I agree.

  • Eikei7

    Posted Aug 1, 2009 3:55 am PT

    Three questions:
    1. Why the voice-over?
    2. Why is the voice-over made by a woman, rather than a man?
    3. Is it that difficult to put on some subtitles?

  • bbeess

Aw. I wanna hear his own voice.
