    I just got this game but i don't know why. I think I wanted it because I thought you could play it without internet access. I guess i will either return it or get an internet cable and try it.

    No, it MMORPG's cannot be a turn-based game, otherwise it sucks like crap. WHY FINAL FANTASY, WHY?!

    Actually, I've liked almost all mmorpg's (that I continued playing, obviously) from more or less the first minute. I still remember the first time I played World of Warcraft, ran around in teldrassil for like two hours just looking at stuff and going "Wow, this is some sweet stuff".
    Much the same with others, for example with Guild Wars I was captured by the combat system, the storyline and if nothing else the beautiful surroundings.

    I'll be trying out the FFXI trial soon, been a long time fan of both FF and MMORPG's, so hopefully I'm gonna like the combination.

    @gamezrsweet you played it for a couple days and your judging it? this is an ff game how many people out there have spent 2 days on an ff game and have reached lvl 10? not too many. if your going to judge something actually give it a try. how many mmorpg's have you liked the minute you started them?

    @jadin_arbiter what? a 3? seriously? are you even a ff fan? this game isn't meant to be compared to wow, it's a diferent genre you f****** dumbass that's like comparing halo to street fighter. i'd also like to add these graphics are much much better then practically every other online game out there.

    @richsnakeprice actually the graphics are a lot worse on the pc. surprising, i know, but the graphics are a little better on the 360. i'd like to add, this guy left out advanced jobs like the dark knight, paladin, summoner, and more. if you really want to know about this game, look up a ffxi guide site or go to the official site.

    this is my favorite online game so far, and for those of you who favor action mmorpg's like wow, if you wait a year or so you can get ffxiv for the ps3 or pc which looks exceptionally good.

    i'd give it a 9.7

    Remember this footage is from the PS2 and not the PC, so the PC version is more visually better than what your seeing here.

    And I'm not giving this a miss, I'll be joining the game soon!

    Final Fantasy XI is only an 8 game in comparison to other mmorps, which isn't speaking of hardly anything. A 3 is its actual rating.

    king, that's a stupid thing to say. how can the ps2 version be better if nothing has changed for the 360 version? they are exactly the same, just now available to a broader audience.

    jchristenberry: The PS2 version was better than the 360. I think it's because it was great when it came out for the PS2, but it came out 2 years later for the 360 and was virtually unchanged.

    I havnt fully decided yet whether I like this game or not. I just recently got it for 360. It is definetly different from any other MMO I have ever played and I have played many. Gone are the number based commands at the bottom of the screen. Instead it takes from its FF roots and has all commands issued through menus. The install and setup for the xbox360 is upwards of 6 hours!!!!! The graphics are waaaaaayyyyy old compared to anything else presented on the 360, but their is something about this game that keeps bringing me back. However I do have concerns about the player base. It seems rather deserted at times.

    This game is awesome. I picked it up a few months ago for the Xbox 360 and except for the long install time im loving it. Its pretty cheap now (Can get a Starter Kit on PC which gives you an account and access to the game sans expansions for £3/4 which 30 days free) and people who are at least willing to give it a try arent really going to lose anything by giving it a quick go. 10/10

    Agree with all of you. The graphic is terrible, gameplay is lame. I love the series, but not this game.

    Totally agree, i made the mistake of buying it for the 360 hoping it would be better ... but it sucked! Gameplay was way too slow and unbearable like you say.
