"We're the guys who worked on Baldur's gate, this game is a lot like Baldur's gate, if you liked Baldur's gate you'll like this game. It's basically the next-gen version of Baldur's Gate, did I mention that this game is for Baldur's Gate fans?"

I've never followed the pre-release bioware talk for their games.

But I've loved all of their games that i've played. KoToR, Jade empire, mass effect, NWN 1. With KoToR and Mass effect being the ones of those that i've spent most time on.

I probably wont follow this game either but it does look really cool.

I don't want to get hyped up and then let down. So I'll just wait a year and buy it and love it without the hype and pre-talk.

And am i the only one who can't understand the guy next to the asian, Bruce something?

    Something about history and politics...

I agree with Wordnot07 most of that was refrences Baldur's Gate...it was a good game but its like they're trying to sell this purely its likeness to Baldur's Gate. I need to see some more ingame play footage and want to know how smoothly this engine runs. Visually it looks great but alot of games have great graphics but run at terrible FPS because they dont bother to optamize the engine. I thought NWN2 looked prety good when it came out but it ran terribly for the graphics it had. (I know NWN2 wernt by Bioware) I mean things like Half Life 2 and Crysis ran perfectly at high settings where NWN2 struggled. And they really are making high expectations for themselfs by comparing it so closely to BG...it better have a damn good story line. Also not having multiplayer support and no mention of a toolset is low...and it obvious why Old Republic ehm... things like that just makes me want to download it instead of buy it.

"Baldur's Gate this, Baldur's Gate that, Baldur's Gate in ya face."

Thats what I got out of this interview. They're really trying to sell this game on the fact that it is like Baldur's Gate. They better put out a great game. They're making expectations very high for themselves.

    @Quirky_Clayboy
You know Baldur's Gate 2 - the entire Baldur's Gate series, actually - was done by Bioware and not Obsidion, right? Because you should.

Because Punumscott, and I have answered this before, they are returning to their roots, which included games in the Forgotten Realms, like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate. They are doing a KOTOR 3 in the form of an MMO, it may not be released until a year or two later, but it is coming. Just look for The Old Republic. They just needed to give Baldur's Gate a successor for years now.

  • Punumscott

Why couldn't they do this to a KOTOR 3!

The spiritual successor of BG? How you dare! From Bioware?.

My god Black Isle would be so pissed...

A BG successor with no D&D license is set to fail. Mass Effect was the beginning of the end for you guys.

dont even try to compare Bethesda when it comes to making RPGs. The games might be fun, but lack polish, and are kinda lite on the RPG side.

  • painpas

    Posted Nov 28, 2008 10:38 pm PT

Pretty much no brainer purchase. Equal to Bethesda in their game quality and quite fun to boot. No real doubts about getting this game. This company has never released a bad game.

Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and KotOR were all improved upon by their sequels, which Obsidian (or at least its predecessor) developed. Hopefully they will get a crack at DA after Bioware is done milking it for DLC.

I like Bioware games. I wonder if this one will feature lesbian alien sex, that was kind of unexpected for me last time. They mentioned romances, I noticed the possibility of playing a female character, it's coming again I knows it.

I think Bioware is going to do, and is doing a great job on Dragon Age Origins. They're one of the best game development companies when it comes to RPG's. Let them do what they know best, and stop criticizing them for doing any less.

"Oh, and THERE WILL BE NO MULTIPLAYER for DA at all. And no possibility to build a PW. Why? They don't want in-house competition for their own little MMO project. That's how greedy they are."

    Wow. That is terrible news.

Looks very good; anything with a link to Baldur's Gate will pique my interest. Conversely, anything with an EA logo on it makes my bones feel cold, with the exception of BF2, which must have slipped through their "make games sell, not playable" net.

  • PredatorRules

  • Nixa22

    Posted Nov 28, 2008 8:15 am PT

I wouldn't blame EA. Biowhore has been like that before EA and will be like that after EA (if it survives).

  • Emilyek_1

    Posted Nov 28, 2008 7:55 am PT

    That's exactly right, Nixa22.

EA has got its stinking hands all over DA, and as a result the DLC is going to be a total nickel-and-dime crapfest, maybe worse than for any game we've ever seen.

  • Nixa22

    Posted Nov 28, 2008 7:20 am PT

Do you know why biowhore won't include an area creator in their "toolset" (I mean; kid joke tool)? Because nobody would pay for their DLC crap, which they'll keep releasing frenetically so their greedy as$es earn even more money, if people could make their own areas.

Oh, and THERE WILL BE NO MULTIPLAYER for DA at all. And no possibility to build a PW. Why? They don't want in-house competition for their own little MMO project. That's how greedy they are.

Just take a look at biowhore's online store and see all the $hit they're selling and prices. Everything will be clear after that.

"I've played BioWare's RPGs ... I feel that they are very linear and they only offer the illusion of choice. They're not terrible or anything, and they have fancy graphics, but there is no story worth it's weight in feathers in their games."

I agree that BioWare really only offers you the illusion of choice, but I've always loved the stories they come up with. Both Baldurs Gate games pulled me in like few of the more recent RPG's have, so I look forward to this game. Its true though that just adding a few new dialog options depending on your characters race/class/sex is not really going to change the overall story. If I play a 40+ hour quest multiple times and it leads to the same ending or a simple good/bad varient, its not offering you enough of a choice.

The fellows in this "interview" say "Baldur's Gate" waaaay too many times. They are robots--nerdy, overweight robots. When you pay someone to do a (fake) interview, you have no assurance their words are their own.
