The ONLY thing i hate about this game, which will make this game one of the worse games ever this year for me, is the stupid gameplay ( Like in Neverwinter nights ), i mean seriusly, this video was the coolest, but it shows alot of fighting and stuff, but when you fight in the game, it's worse then Age of Conan!!!

P.S. Agreed with helborhamy and Sharevok.

The Game looks great, the cinematic trailer shows a lot of lore (a spitted head with outcoming blood of the eyes and nose, head cut,...) but right, in the Gameplay you can see nothing like that.

The good thing: The Storybase, Atmosphere, Sound?,...

Most bad thing: The Movement, fight-animations, TOO CHOPPY and slow (Games in the last 10 years had got better Animations), in every BioWare Game you have that silly large pause between the cuts... The scene with the Stairs... a disaster the movement itself, unrealistic.

To every Game-designer for 3D-movement, please take a look at Games like "Assassins Creed"... ...and I don't understand why bioware make such crap animations?

Has good graphics, good ideas, but the game doesn't look very intense to me. Not enough gore, action is kind of slow, and it looks like it should have been a strategy game rather than role-playing.

It looks cool! Im deffenetly going to play it! BG 2 is the best game I have ever played, I think. Thereby I agree with some in here, that the standards they set is extremly high, and maybe thats not wise, we will first surely know when the game is out
Another thing that I can see, which annoys me is that they dont use the old User Interface as they did in both NWN, BG and Icewind Dale. They use one that looks very close to the one Blizzard developed to WoW. I dont know why though as the UI to the old game gave a special feeling too, I think

so is this going to be tyrn based or somthing. or is it hack and slash?

If everyone would turn down thier detail on computers to what the graphics looked like on an Xbox or PS3 no one would ever complain about frame rates. But when you kick up the res and detail there is no comparison. I was so dissappointed in my xbox and ps3 compared to my PC. And noting compares to a mouse, and nostro N52. Good thin my ps3 does Blu Ray.

    @Skicreature

Mass effect wasn't different from DnD, silly. it's like what star wars did for DnD. just another form of pen and paper RPG. I wouldn't mind seeing some better P&P games as opposed to this. It's been a while since something new came out for pen and paper.

This is how Fallout 3 should have been

Controllable Groups, Pause n Play, etc. But with a bit more Tactics. Maybe it whould be possible to make a "mod" for Fallout, that makes it play like this, or vice verse, a Mod for this that lets you play Fallout!

Anyhow. I'm looking forward to this game. I realy like (and miss) the classical Baldurs Gate, Icewindale, Fallout kinda RPGs. Now it looks like its here, with "modern" graphics. NeverWinter Nights was the closest in resent days, but you wasnt able to controll the entire "group" as with the older games. Dungeon Siege is also like this, but that game lak alot else ... Just wonder how it will be played on PS3 and X360? Is mouse and Keyboard gonna be supported? or entirely Gamepad controlls? The former is the way to play it on the other hand (Keyboard and Mouse).

Can't wait for this. I play Bioware games mainly for their rich stories. This looks alot like the first NWN, especially the HUD. The engine plays like it too. Character models looks nice so i'm hoping the environment is the same, hard to tell from a preview.

This is looking prety sweet....and im glad they're moving out of AD&D system. I knw there are die hard fans of tht system and it was fun at the time, i enjoyed the baldur's gate games, icewind dale etc but its time to move on. Games like oblivion and fable def has more immersive combat than the old skool D&D and im glad this game is trying to move in tht direction. My only concern is they're trying to pleace everyone here by trying to intigrate the old system into this....i jst hope they get it right instead of making one or both systems weak.

This game looks pretty terrible, like a copy of dungeon siege. I can pause that game too. Why change what is already good? Oh, Morrigan is in the game. How exciting! Who the hell is that? The daughter of Flemith? Oh wow, I don't care. I had forgotten about this game since updates stopped coming about 2 years ago... looks like I don't need to check anymore. Look at that interface! But, Bioware makes some good RPG's so I'm sure it won't be as bad as my initial impression.

the D&D system was a great system for the pc although there were definitely some parts of the system that did not work with the pc due to the fact the pc moves much more quickly. Mass Effect was not a lite rpg it was definitely a deep story line but it is true that most games outside of the D&D are lite rpgs. mass effect was just an exception. Hopefully fallout 3 will be a deep game.

  • Humorguy_basic

    Posted Oct 17, 2008 5:24 am PT

shame that the only deep rpgs are AD&D type fantasy game. Why Sci-Fi (Mass Effect) and Japanese (Jade Empire) RPG's have to be 'lite' and not 'deep; rpg's like DA escapes and worries and frustrates me. We will have towait on Fallout 3, but generally we need more genres when it comes to hardcore RPG's. Like the old games of years gone by Wasteland and Martian Dreams (google if you don't know them!)

    Posted Oct 14, 2008 1:49 am PT

I disagree. The AD&D universe was far more than a System. It left the player with a feel that he was in a world with physical boundries, and that was, in part, what made the game great. In Baldurs Gate you really had to think Strategy and plan ahead for an encounter. This game just looks like mindless hack and slash to me.
Also don't forget that Baldurs gate was set in the Forgotten Realms, so you could actually read books about almost every aspect of the game. And the people who made the game obviously had made a great effort reading the history of the game World before they made the Game. Im my oppinion, if you want a game that looks like this and feels like Baldurs Gate, buy "the Witcher". It has cutting edge graphics, and a Story that is based on Novels of a Professional Fantasy Author. And it lets you make desicions that will REALLY affect your Character in the game later on...

So glad to see Bioware finally getting away from AD&D system. It was alwasys the worst system to translate from P&P to computer. The idea of having to memorize spells just begged to be exploited by force camping all the time, and the whole system was built around that and it weakened the whole system and totally unballenced it.

I like this kind of game. I hope they have a good AI system that u can use for your AI controlled party members tho. Kind of in the way they had it in ff 12.

For me at lest It was allot of fun designing how your characters would act then seeing in a fight how it would turn out

You are an idiot, we haven't seen any of the real gameplay, you don't know anything about it. Also there is nothing wrong with the shader it's just a dark game (which I love and I think is fitting) so your comments are invalid.
