Mythic preps Dark Age of Camelot gathering

Dark Age developer plans modern-day get-together in Vegas; early registrants to receive free copies of upcoming expansion pack.

After half a dozen expansion packs to its 2001 MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot and a slew of cross-country meet-ups, Mythic Entertainment is inviting all the game's players to descend upon Las Vegas again. On September 29 and 30, Mythic is hosting another meet-and-greet roundtable, and fans are welcome, the company said.

"I can't think of a better way to celebrate five years of Camelot and discuss the game's exciting future than with the players who helped make it all possible," said Walter Yarbrough, a Dark Age of Camelot producer at Mythic.

Mythic Entertainment, which was purchased by mega publisher Electronic Arts in late June, hosted two similar roundtables in 2005. Yarbrough said fans who make the trek to Sin City's Rio Hotel and Casino for the event--which runs $97.25 for one adult ticket--will also get the first look at the latest Dark Age of Camelot expansion pack.

"Our plans for the seventh major expansion demonstrate our continuing commitment to Dark Age of Camelot," he said. "Those in attendance will be amongst the first to experience this exciting new content."

Like last year, Mythic is promising extra incentives to those who register early--namely, a free copy of the new Dark Age of Camelot expansion pack after its release, beta access before it comes out, and "an exclusive in-game item."

I wish that all the gaming events in the U.S. weren't held west of Chicago or in New York city. There are some gamers in the southeast, y'know...

    a.k.a. Sausage Fest 2006.

Bless them, though, the ultra-dedicated MMO geeks. Everybody is looking for a niche in life--some have decided to take up near-permanent residence in a world of polygonal walls. As long as it isn't killing them or hurting those who love them, more power to 'em. Just ease off on the fast food if you're going to be sitting on your bum all day. It's the same advice I'd tell someone who sits in casinos and gambles for 8 hours a day. Know thy vice.

Spent 5 years of my life on this game. It's good to see they're still running the round table events. Those were always something worth waiting for.

Any thing free is cool. When Dark Age of Camelot came out in 04 it was a good game and still is but now it is losing its shine. But this new Expansion could bring the great feel back. All that good stuff like beta access before it comes out, and a exclusive in-game item.Sounds great but $97.25 is to high for me to get that stuff you really are paying for it.But hope it will be cool though.
