Mythic Entertainment will be showing off Dark Age of Camelot: Trials of Atlantis, an expansion pack to its massively multiplayer role-playing game, Dark Age of Camelot. Trials of Atlantis allows players from all realms to explore the fabled lost civilization of Atlantis. The expansion's story starts when each of the three realms in the game finds portals to Atlantis. There, you'll find that the citizens of Atlantis have created a series of nine trials for you to overcome. Each of the trials is designed to be completed by parties, and along the way you'll travel by ship, explore islands with ancient ruins, and even swim through underwater caves to battle a slew of new monsters. As you journey and overcome the trials, you'll find new treasure and gain master levels, part of the newly designed character advancement system.

The game's graphics have also been overhauled, using NDL's Gamebryo graphics engine, for improved terrain textures, and good looking underwater scenery. A new system for trees has also been added, to improve the look of foliage throughout all of Dark Age of Camelot's territory. Trials of Atlantis will even add a skinnable user interface and more options for customization. Finally, three new races will be introduced--one for each of the three realms in the game.

Trials of Atlantis is slated for release in late 2003 for the PC. The expansion pack will require the original Dark Age of Camelot, as well as its previous expansion pack, Shrouded Isles. We'll have more information on Trials of Atlantis as it becomes available.
