Puzzle Quest piecing together Wii, PS2, PC

D3Publisher set to bring popular role-playing puzzler to new platforms and mobile phones in early 2008.

Last May, D3Publisher announced it would be bringing many of its games to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade. The highest-profile title in the 360-bound bunch was the breakout hit Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Previously, the Bejeweled-inspired puzzler with role-playing game sensibilities was available only on the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable.

Apparently realizing it has a sleeper hit on its hands, D3 today announced that Wii, PlayStation 2, PC, and mobile versions of Puzzle Quest are also in the pipe. The recently acquired Vicious Cycle, which developed the PSP version of Puzzle Quest, will rework the gem-jangling puzzler for the Wii and PS2, while THQ's ValuSoft and THQ Wireless studios will cover the PC and mobile versions, respectively.

Puzzle Quest for the Wii, PS2, PC, and mobile platforms will be available in "early 2008," while the Xbox 360 version is still slated to release "later this year." The game has been rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older on all platforms. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

As long as it comes out at a bargain price on PC, I'm down. Hearing about this game was one of the few times I regretted not having a DS, but now it's a moot point.

next year? by then puzzle quest already lost its thunder, pc gamers will be tired of the pc demo & will not be purchasing the full game, ps2 is very less popular by that time and a wii version will also be too old. this game is a very easy one to port, pc demo is finished longtime ago with only a level 7 cap just to make it not a free game, the only reason i think it is being withheld is because XBL demanded some time exclusivity darn it. btw i already have finished the psp version numerous times but the pc versions rocks my toshiba tablet, tis the only reason i still play this game. ps, make a PSN version of this game too, promise i will buy it too.

It is finally coming to the PC. Can I hear a Whoop Whoop! I have played through the demo so many times. I am stoked to see all of the rest of the gameplay because I know that it can only get deeper from the demo.

The PSP version is excellent in every way, and the same is to expect of these new versions. It's an extremely addictive game. What's best is that it has room for improvement (ex: expanding the map and story a bit further and..not so many encounters on the same paths..). I'm sure whoever gets this game for any of the systems above mentioned will not regret it and will experience dozens of gameplay hours. It's excellent news for everyone (it might ultimately lead to a sequel!)

2008???? what the heck, the PC demo is flawless! how does it take so long to just get the rest of the story over?

DS game is ADDICTING!!! I play a little tetris for my puzzle fix every once in a while, but I gave this one a shot on gamespot's recommendation... it is everything they say it is, and I'm glad they're making other versions because this IS a sleeper hit. What I'm saying is, if you are new to the puzzle genre and are thinking about trying it out, like I was... GET THIS GAME.
