Damage effects don't look very good, and the driving style looks more arcade than simulation.

They are always saying that their game is new or it has new technology or effects but really you can see those stuff form different games. Grid is much more interesting than this.

videos are only glimpses of the game and this is july september is 2 months away this isnt the finished product so wait for the demo if it ever comes out and then make up your mind on how bad its going to be. sure i miss cop chases but there are only so many ways to do street until it gets realy repetitive and then your going to be bored with that and want something different. Besides new people are making the game so it wont be like prostreet (hopefully) neither will it be like grid because codemasters made that game. Slightly made studios is making this game so shut up about it being like all of those games and if im wrong about this game than you can say whatever you want about me being wrong. I've played almost every NFS game and realy the only one i got bored with was prostreet because it was the same races everytime and you couldn't wreck any of the other cars unlike this game so theres one element thats different and two there are a lot of different racing types sp this is completely different from prostreet and you earn bonuses for driving clean or driving agressively so theres another element thats different from prostreet and grid and you can have an online career and thats different from prostreet and grid so shut up about it being the samebecause its NOT THE SAME!!!

Give us back our street with NEW Innovation and not a remake of old game like Most Wanted to Undercover! If we wanna play realistic driving simulator on real life courses, we would have gotten ourselves Gran Turismo...

  • nikitash

    Posted Jul 16, 2009 9:23 am PT

its better EA starts from scratch and have survey what need for speed fans want , EA must nake website where we can post our own ides to make complete NFS and the most important is fun and good online play. Also EA go and get new game engine because ur damage physics abd car handling scripts sucks .

i've been a NFS player since 3DO'S "the need for speed" an this is nothing new. as i said below one pound of prostreets, one tease spoon of GRID
MIX WELL bake for one hour bam!! SHIFT.

look it dosen't matter if it looks like Forza or any of those other sim racing games as long as they do it right it will be a good game. Also you can only do street for so long until you start getting bored with it and looking for something new so stop asking for street and try this game. I like the fact that you can wreck other people a feature ive been waiting for in NFS. I like street racing in NFS and will miss the element of cop chases that add a little excitement so that part i don't like but besudes that i think this is a good move for NFS. NFS RULES!!!

damn this looks good, haven't had much need for speed franchise experience but I guess you guys like their illegal-street-racing-arcade-no-need-for-over-and-under-steering-style, except for the new undercover? I got Pro Street and it's good, was pretty excited when I first got it, everything's okay and still fun (even the drifting, even though it's short) just giving it little complaints about it's handling... it's like a damn boat. Visuals are way better than the previous one before it from what i've seen, they're like um... "plastic cars" if I can quote below =). NFS:shift looks good though and supporting 13ozzy with his views, change gotta happen sometime and respecting EA for that too but don't need to forget the arcade style! I'm sure (maybe not, just hopeful) they're going to bring back their crappy visual arcade racing but they did bring it back in the form of undercover and most of you guys gave it low ratings -.-

  • hotrider12

    Posted Jun 29, 2009 2:27 am PT

    "HANCEKYLE"

dose not matter if he is saying "usually NFS is in crappy plastic cars". my whole point was looking back and inside view (cockpit) is not new!! old NFS games might not call it cockpit at the time but still NFS do have "drive from inside view" by pressing triangal and to look back press O......regardless what you guys say this is nothing new!!!!!!!! I play ALL racing games with inside view racing. I never play NFS,GT 3.. above the car or "car body view" ..I PLAY THE GAME AS IF IM IN THE CAR MYSELF so most likely I'll have the inside view only on. to get a better feel of the road and surrounding enviroment. I have friends use (outside car body mode) all they do is crash, crash, crash.

    plus,
each car has a driver in hotpursuit 2 this guy lieing very good.. this is nothing new.looking back while driving is not new either, only thing is new is the graphic's an acheivement awards & trophies, in all the title's i mention below you can look back by pressing o or R1

  • hotrider12

    Posted Jun 28, 2009 12:28 am PT

driving from behind the car??? WTF?? is this guy talking about??
every NFS game I have you can drive from inside or road in front of you view... the need for speed, nfs high stakes, nfs porsche unleashed, nfs hotpursuit 1 & 2 carbon, mostwanted, underground 1 & 2..prostreets,undercover all of those... you can drive from within the car or road view. this guy don't know what the hell he's talking about "this is new to NFS"

i really like the idea of the cuztomization that you can change the interior to make the car lighter that seems fun and i like the "persona" idea too

Why are they trying to compete with forza and GT series, NFS should be fun but EA have destroyed that a long time ago When I play NFS I want to have fun and relax when I play forza or GT I want challenge & precision and they deliver it every time

If this is what EA I going against Forza & GT then good luck to them because they will need lots of it, just looking at this video u see that handling physics are no wear near as good as GT or Forza.

EA and proper simulation racing game I don't think so

frame rate is not so impressive..could be the 3rd consecutive NFS failure...I m really disappointed.I was always a good nfs fan..
specially nfs fans want some story to play with..not just track racing..really boring...they never listen to their fans..even after crappy pro street..what cant they make a good nfs like Most Wanted? To me nfs is long gone...

I think criterion will watch the sales of sh't and go back to arcade NFS and hopefully come out with hotpursuit 3 with shift graphics
NFS doooooo not need to compete with forza nor gran turismo.
NFS was in a class by its self

  • hotrider12

    Posted Jun 22, 2009 3:54 am PT

    @ 130zzy
you say arcade racing should be forgotten. and if SHIFT fail then what?? EA is trying something new I'll give them that. but for old school nfs gamer it will not sell as much and yes this will be love/hate senario next gen. will love it old school gamer will hate it.
i believe whats going to down fall shift is forza 3 and GRAN TURISMO 5, SPLIT/SEC... PURE, DIRT 2

  • 13ozzy

    Posted Jun 21, 2009 11:07 pm PT

People arcade racing should be forgotten!.. and for all those who want Most Wanted 2, look at Undercover... EA listened to the fans: they got the cops back, free world back, even the gay cut scenes back, and as a result got the lowest rated NFS game ever. This is going to be a LOVE/HATE (at least they are not trying to lick every bodies' arsse).
EA is finally doing something new and i respect them for that.

    Posted Jun 21, 2009 10:56 pm PT

@hotrider12: no car can do 400mph (not any street legal car) and Veyron is not the fastest road legal car. It aches me to say that SSC Ultimate Aero is faster. Second thing is that the only reason your car skids and slides because of the retarded and twitchy controller. To play a game like this you need a wheel. And finally I know that GT-R is good but doing 140 on every corner doesn't exactly sound like simulation to me./ (I wish they would listen to their so called racing driver more.)

  • EXCURTION

    Posted Jun 21, 2009 9:54 pm PT

As i see it, the game tries to do everything, but it might end doing nothing, you give something to "simulation" guys and you give something to "arcade" guys, as a simulation kind of person the arcade stuff draws me back, and this is not the game for a 100% arcade racing gamer, lets just wait and see how it goes, I am surely going to try it either way...

  • hotrider12

    Posted Jun 21, 2009 8:54 pm PT

something to think about guys. now a veyron buggitti is suppose to be in this game. now if thats the worlds fastest legal car 400 mph I hope EA dont make it seem like all the rest can pass it or keep up with it. thats why I hated undercover cop's right on your ass like your doing 35 mph i wanna know an feel im doing 400 mph

  • robeyblade

    Posted Jun 20, 2009 8:08 pm PT

Graphically it looks stunning. I think it will be a very real simulator despite what some of the comments said. Yeah I know its not much like the NFS we're used to but this isn't all that bad. Alternating between a game on cops and one on arcade is not that bad of an idea; at least its varied so you never play a sequel thats just like its preceder. Regardless, I'm gunna buy it. Perhaps you guys aren't giving it a chance due to your reviews on previous titles.
