NASCAR Racing 4 debuts at number four
The latest edition in Sierra's stock car racing series threatens the top three on the latest PC Data list of best-selling games.
NASCAR Racing 4, the latest stock car racing game from Sierra Sports, took fourth place in the latest PC Data list of best-selling games. The list covers the week of February 4-10, and considering NASCAR Racing 4 was released halfway through the week, the game stands a chance of dethroning one of the top three in next week's list, when it will have a week's worth of sales behind it. Like last week and several weeks before, the virtual life game The Sims from Electronic Arts took first place, and The Sims: Livin' Large expansion pack took second. Hasbro Interactive's popular theme park management game, Roller Coaster Tycoon, continued to hold third place, as it has for several weeks. Hoyle Casino 2001, which took fourth place last week, was knocked down to fifth place by NASCAR Racing 4.
PC Data also released the monthly list of best-selling games for January 2001. Numbers one, two, and three went to The Sims, The Sims: Livin' Large, and Roller Coaster Tycoon, respectively. These results were expected, since the three games had remained solidly in the top three spots throughout the month. Fourth place for the month went to SimTheme Park, EA's answer to Hasbro's Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Havas Interactive's Hoyle Casino 2001 took fifth place.
