BizSpots: Splitfish, Meridian4, Rising Star

Mouse-style peripheral heads to PS3; Vigil gets Steam-ed; Rising Star shoots with Hudson.

Splitfish splices mouse into PS3 pad
With next-gen accessories already proving to be big business, Splitfish announced today its first peripheral for the PlayStation 3, dubbed the FragFX. Designed to bring keyboard-and-mouse precision to console shooters, the FragFX replaces the right half of a traditional gamepad with a mouse-style add-on. In addition to translating functions traditionally relegated to the right thumbstick, the peripheral includes several customization features and player-performance aids. The FragFX supports all PlayStation 3 games, includes motion-sensing functionality, and should appear in stores sometime next week at a $59.99 price point.

Freegames' not-so-free game on Steam
Valve seems to be getting keen on episodic adventure games for its downloadable-game service lately. Last week, Sam and Max publisher Telltale announced installments from its quirky adventure game series are getting the Steam treatment. Today, Meridian4 announced it would be bringing the first episode of France-based developer Freegames' horror-themed adventure game Vigil to Valve's online service. Originally released last December, Vigil Episode 1: Blood Bitterness was initially available only through Freegames' Web site or GarageGames' online store. It will be available on Steam beginning June 29 and will run for $9.95.

Hudson teams with UK publisher for Wii, DS, PSP games
UK-based publisher Rising Star Games today announced a joint publishing deal with party-game aficionados Hudson Soft. As part of the deal, Rising Star will bring seven titles to the UK market between September 2007 and March 2008. Though not yet named, the games will be for Nintendo's cash-cow systems the DS and Wii, as well as Sony's PlayStation Portable. In the past, Rising Star partnered with Japanese publisher Marvelous to bring Harvest Moon Magical Melody to the UK. The publisher plans to bring its first Wii title to market in early 2008.

AceCometh: Sony should adopt this slogan:
    "PS3 - Everything but games!"

That would be so much funnier... if it wasn't true.
AS for Sony announcing 380 games by the end of March 2008, If Sont told me the sun was shining I'd look out a window to check, just can't bring myself to believe any of the BS they keep spouting.

"ftjx: that mouse pad looks a bit small..."

Yeah, but you don't need to move a lot; it's a mouse, you don't need to move more than 4 inches. The D-pad on the FragFX would be equivalent to WASD, but then you're using your thumb. Still better than the current controllers; I'd like to use it.

Oh, Yes, DonutTrooper, fight the power. Buy Vista and Shadowrun from Microsoft, install them on the PS3 that their competitor sells at a loss, and provide opponents for MS's paying Xbox Live Gold customers.

    That'll show 'em.

I have the discs, so if I put Windows XP/Vista on my PS3 and use these new peripherals, I could try to play PC games. Maybe for the big kick in the teeth for Microsoft I would play Shadowrun (Vista) with 360 users.

The controller sounds fun! UT 2k7 will be amazing to play now.bUT IT would be better if FPS games supported standard Mouse and keyboard input as The Bowser and everything else supports it.. that way everyone can have fun

    AceCometh

    Sony should adopt this slogan:

    "PS3 - Everything but games!"------------

Man you are so ignorant. So many great games are coming for the PS3. You just make you self sound ignorant by spewing fanboy crap like that. Like this quote from Sony:

"105 Blu-ray disc games and about 40 PlayStation Network games by March."
-- Sony on US PS3 releases
    --------------------------------

A mouse style controller for PS3? Sweet! UnReal 3 is going to be bad ass on PS3. I hope KillZone 2 come along. Where is that game Sony?? Bring it man!!!
