Shippin' Out June 21-27: Transformers, Fight Night Round 4

Knock 'em, sock 'em robots and ring generals lead a busy week at retail along with the Conduit, Spore expansion, Resident Evil Archives, and new Shin Megami Tensei and Overlord games.

Following up on weeks that saw such high-profile launches as Infamous, The Sims 3, Prototype, and Ghostbusters: The Video Game, the summer release schedule continues to simmer. A week after gamers enjoyed ghostbusting the spectral invaders of Manhattan, players can now enjoy playing behemoth Autobots and Decepticons this Tuesday.

In the game based on this week's film of the same name, Activision's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen picks up a few years after defeat of Megatron. In the single-player campaign, players fill the mechanical boots of either the dastardly Decepticons or the noble Autobots, shifting between movie-based and original missions. In the online multiplayer mode, players can choose among five different match types.

Boxing fans might enjoy the new fourth round of the Fight Night Round series. In Fight Night Round 4, a new physics engine more accurately mimics the visceral nature of boxing, allowing players to watch their opponents swell, cut, and bleed like never before. The game ships on Tuesday for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Players of Spore might be interested in the PC add-on pack, Spore Galactic Adventures, which offers customizable adventures for players' space-faring civilizations.

It's a banner week for science fiction throughout the new release list, with High Voltage's near-future first-person shooter for the Wii, The Conduit, also landing in stores. In the game, players fight against extraterrestrial invaders that take themselves to America's leader and capture Washington D.C. This Sega-produced Wii-exclusive game will hit store shelves on Tuesday.

Also being released on the Wii this week is Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil. An adaptation of the GameCube rerelease, Archives introduces new controls designed to take advantage of the Wii's motion-sensing controller. The new version also retains the GameCube's numerous enhancements to the original game, including a significant graphics overhaul, and new areas, items, defensive weapons, and creatures.

Fans of the demonic Shin Megami Tensei series can look forward to the latest iteration for the DS, Devil Survivor. Set in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, players must stop demons from destroying the city in this strategy role-playing game adventure hybrid. For those seeking the ever-popular goal of world domination, Codemaster's Overlord II might be an option. As the heir to the Overlord, players take on the role of the demonic tyke known as the Overlad. The game is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Two other iterations of the Overlord franchise are also coming out on the Wii and DS this week, Overlord Minions (DS) and Overlord: Dark Legend (Wii).

For further details on the week's games, visit GameSpot's New Releases page. The full list of downloadable games on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Marketplace, and the Wii Shop Channel will be revealed later this week. Release dates are based on retailer listings and are subject to change.

I was going to pick up Fight Night Round 4, then I played the demo and was sooo disappointed I'm not even considering getting it at all. I guess I'll keep playing Round 3, at least until Round 5 (if there ever is one now).

I'm actually considering SMT: Devil Survivor, I really was a fan of the SMT: Persona 3 & Persona 4, though I haven't tried the other Shin Megami Tensei RPGs on the PS2, I've wanted to for a while. Though, I'll pick this up first since this is the first Shin Megami Tensei game I'm aware of that is not made for the PlayStation, and if Atlus is going to be experimenting with new platforms I'm all for showing my support for that. I'll be picking it up tomorrow on the way to work if my GameStop has it in stock.

I'm also considering getting The Conduit, and maybe even Overlord II. The Conduit at least looks to be entertaining, and I haven't picked up many satisfying games on my Wii lately. I might wait and see what more people have to say about Overlord II, I loved the first because the minions had great personality, really carried the game along. Though, I didn't find so much personality with the minions this time around (in the demo), rather I found their personality very lacking. Plus, this game's video is choppier than the first one. Minions aren't as good at picking up supplies and orbs as efficiently this time either. I'm just going to wait and see what others think.

Will pick this FN4 up today. Heading to Fry's Electronics to see if they have it on sale. Probably not though as EA never allows their games to be on sale on first day of release.

My brother got FNR 4 in the mail already because he ordered it from EA's website. I preordered it from Gamestop and won't get it till at least tomorrow. He said the game is pretty tough and the site to upload your face is not running yet. I can't wait to play this game.

I think boxing is on a downward spiral in the sports industry, with MMA taking over, therefore I've found a lot more interest in the new UFC game. The last Fight Night game was really fun, but I wonder if a lot of people even recognize any of these current fighters anymore. I used to be a big boxing fan and I think it's sad to see that it's slowly dying, but MMA is much more exciting. The only thing that may give the boxing community a boost would be Manny Pacquio vs Floyd Mayweather. I'd pay to see Manny beat the #%@* out of Floyd, although it would be Mannys toughest bout. Anyways, about the game, I might play some of the demo and if it's any good I might buy it when it drops in price.

    @Rottenwood

I'd rather would not comment on the best. I love the genre and there's too many to pick. Anyways right now I'm really loving the SMT series, and would be happy if my PS2 could be revived so I can play P3 and P4, as well as finish my business with DDS and DDS2. I'll be getting Devil Survivor that's for sure. And Oblivion, I'm hearing good things. I've only played Morrowind(haha that's way long ago).

And it doesn't feel like an opinion at all, how he delivered it. Anyways apologies for not respecting the opinion of others. I still don't like Fallout 3 turning out like Oblivion still. That's my final opinion. But yeah, I think add-ons are not part of news articles I think, or maybe I just forgot...

Well, since 29 isn't listed, and due to conflicting schedules I see on the net, when will MvC2 be officially released for XBLA and PS Store?

Hey, the man thinks Fallout 3 is the best RPG ever made. Everyone gets an opinion. If you disagree, let us hear what YOU think is the best RPG to date. He put it out there; now it's your turn.

The people that want 2 or 3 of these games must either have a lot of money or not taste. Are you really gong to buy The Conduit or Fight Night in place of all the great games that are coming out later this year?

That being said I hope that you buy all of these games and NONE of the ones that are coming out later this year. We need to send a message to game companies that we buy games all year. Of course more games are sold at Christmas because more are released. I hope there are no less than 5 major flops this Winter at retail.

I WANT GOOD GAMES ALL YEAR LONG. I DO NOT ONLY PLAY GAMES IN THE WINTER.

Ignoring the add-on for Fallout 3 isn't that bad(I mean the topic is about game releases, not add-ons), calling it the best RPG of all time is a sin. (refer to smoooth95's comment).

Fallout hate aside(I'm a fan of the original, so don't throw tomatoes at me pls.) looks like there's a lot of DS love going(although I'm not really sure if it's quality love or quantity love). Will probably get SMT(I love the SMT series) and the Overlord thing just to check things out. The Conduit sounds good, sad thing I don't have a Wii.
Fight Night Round 4 is a sure miss for me, dad hates the fight sports genre(MMA, Boxing) and we still don't have jobs to tend for our gaming needs.
