MumboJumbo opening Office

Casual games based on NBC's comedy to appear this fall on the PC, PSP, and DS.

There are no shortages of fun and games in the regional offices of Dunder-Mifflin, the fictitious company that serves as the setting of NBC's BBC-inspired comedy, The Office. The workers at the paper company have engaged in Office Olympics, pranks are pulled nonstop, and multiplayer sessions of the popular first-person shooter Call of Duty are employed as team-building exercises.

This fall, the tables will be turned when The Office's cast of quirky characters will go from playing games to being in a game. MumboJumbo today announced that it has signed a licensing deal with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to develop a casual game based on the TV series. The Dallas-based shop will develop and publish the game, which will appear on the PC, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable.

Few details are available on the title, although MumboJumbo did mention that it will be available for online download--but did not say for which platforms.

Turning a television show into a game is nothing new, as Law & Order, The Sopranos , CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Shield, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Futurama have all been turned into games. Adaptations of Battlestar Galactica and Lost are currently in the works. However, live-action comedies rarely get the television-to-game treatment, with a few exceptions, such as a 2005 Friends: The One With All The Trivia trivia game and the 2006 Sims wannabe based on Desperate Housewives.

    I am counting down the days till this game comes out i am soo excited the game might not be GREAT! but if your a number 2 office fan BECAUSE I AM NUMBER 1 ,NUMBER 1 OFFICE FAN I LOVE THE OFFICE" then you should get the game no matter how bad it seems fun aND ITS A BREAK FROM ALL THOSE KILLING GAMES NOT THAT I DONT LIKE THOSE,,,,(sorry for caps)

    this game is gonna blow, but the show is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

    If anything, they should make a game of the original British version. Two seconds of Ricky Gervais are ten times funnier than the whole American series, which was a big letdown anyway.

    I'm curious how this will turn out. I can't think of what type of game play a show as The Office will give out.

    The Buffalo Branch is working right through lunch to prevent downsizing. Michael, though, is having the entire office skip lunch to watch him fight dwight at the dojo. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT....um...Ryan started the fire? It's thursday, but Dwight thinks its Friday, so keep that up...what the hell could this game be? i'm a pretty big fan of the series. hopefully this game doesn't get too much publicity cus it may ruin the series lol

    well this is a must-have. there are few shows that id have to buy the game because its that good, Lost and the Office are worthy of that

    The Office is awesome, sure I agree. But a game based off the Office? I don't think that will work out so well, plus most licensed games are a attempt to make a few extra bucks of the license and are because of this made carelessly.
