Strong Bad strong-arms PCs, Wii August 11

Homestar Runner antihero making his belated debut next week, with episodes running $8.95 apiece.

As demanding of a task as answering e-mails all day can be, making a game about a character that answers e-mails all day could be considered that much harder. Despite initially slating the first episode of Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People: Homestar Ruiner in for June, Telltale Games said it would be bumping the installment back a month to July. However, that month came and went with nary a peep from Telltale, nor from its interpretation of the lucha libre-inspired pugilist.

This week, Telltale has broken its silence. The adventure game developer revealed that Homestar Ruiner will be available on the PC and via Nintendo's WiiWare service beginning August 11. Episodes will run for $8.95 a piece. PC owners can alternatively preorder Strong Bad's entire run for $34.95, and receive each as it is made available through Telltale's Web site.

Homestar Ruiner will be the first in the five-part Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People series. Similar to Telltale's Sam and Max episodic games, new installments are expected to be released on a monthly basis. Players will assume the role of the titular maybe-hero, solving puzzles and interacting with other denizens from the Homestar Runner universe.

Its about time. First it was June, then July, then "Early August". This better be the best game available on WiiWare other wise I'll be pissed.

Talk about making MONEY, I am so glad that this company ( and the people behind Homestar) and going to be making it big. The whole Homestar Runner series has entertained me for years now and for free. This looks to be a very good game and serious, very cool. I mean, you can freaking be Strong Bad!!!

I am so glad this game is also being offered on the PC. Not having a Wii myself (and not knocking it either), I simply would not get a Wii just to have this game. Not to mention, it is kinda dumb to pay for a game in installments, when it can be had for one lump sum. I don't like the gimmicy way ALL online game vendors try to test new pricing schemes. Just give me the whole game, I don't want to pay by the level.

apboyer - I'm sad to tell another Arrested Development fan, but yeah SB is costing another dollar on WiiWare making it 1000 Wiipoints. Telltale says it's to cover the extra costs of bring it to the Wii.

It is $8.95 per episode for the PC and 1000 points per episode for the Wii.

I hope it's 900 wii points. 895 just leaves players with a strange amount of points left and 1000 wii points would mean that ultimately wii owners are paying a bunch more than those who bought the pc episodes. No matter the case I'm definately looking forward to monday.

If its 895 its not so weird. Then you have like 105 points left. Then it gives you incentive to get more because it would be a waste to just let those points sit there useless.....
Its just marketing to get you to buy more points, not too bad of a strategy either.
    Strong Bad FTW!!!

    @ Iak_43:
Yes, it's a joke. Strong Bad is from the "Homestar Runner" universe. Both Strong Bad and Homestar Runner are characters in this universe. Strong Bad hates Homestar, so when Strong Bad was naming his game he would have wanted to make fun of Homestar. Or maybe its a joke from the devs letting you know that part of the story is that you do something bad to Homestar Runner.
There, now that it's all explained it's not funny anymore.

Anyway, I'm assuming $8.95 will translate into 900 Wii points. I hope they don't bump it up to 1000.
