Scary nurses sought for Japanese Silent Hill premiere

Film's release to be heralded by 50 cosplayers taking a morning stagger to the movie theater, handing out flyers along the way.

According to ITmedia, 50 cosplay fans are being sought to assist in a promotional event for the Japan premiere of the film Silent Hill. The idea is to get 50 "Dark Nurses" to shuffle and stagger from a location near Tokyo's Ginza Station to the Marion theater complex on the morning of July 8. There they will greet customers--presumably by gurgling hideously and limping toward them with rusty scalpels--and hand out flyers. There is no monetary compensation for providing this service, but volunteers will get to keep their Dark Nurse threads and be given other memorabilia related to the film.

    The first question of "Does Hollywood hate us?" doesn't take into account two things.



    1. A lot of video game stories aren't really that good at the core. Doom's story is "Portal opens, Hell comes through, you kick ass." We like them because the story is really only there to give us motivation to kick the aforementioned ass. However, if they strung together all the story bits and subtracted out the gameplay moments, the movie would be less than an hour long and, frankly, almost unwatchable.



    2. I have become convinced that video game fans should not watch the movies. They are often more anal retentive than LOTR fans were concerning the changes from one media to the next. More to the point, they always seem to come in with both an over-inflated view of the story as well as a desire to reexperience the sheer visceral thrill of many of these games. This combines to always leave people with a disappointing experience.



    As for the cosplaying.... This is Japan. While cosplaying is more frequent in some parts than others and is a weekend thing, it isn't so wholly unique that anything is likely to happen to the nurses.

    Does Holliwood hate us?,they did this with all the oter games like Doom 3, Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros and Mortal Kombat(although this movie was pretty cool).
    the movie sucked, the game was glorious, however.

    Ah Silent Hill, horrible writing, but a great movie none-the-less.
    The Japanese will probably love its wacky visual style.

    i oh so wanted silent hill to be good but it was just plain horrible. i feel so sorry for the japanese people that are going to go into the theatre with high hopes just like me and leave stupified by the cheesy boring and just plain lame abomination of cinema.

    Japanese zombie nurses...... i'm gonna have to agree with Mit_Man, someone's not gonna realize what's goin on and think they're real zombie's and start blowin heads off.

    well, i enjoyed the film... and though i do recall what the "nurses" looked like in the film, i'm sure that these ones are going to look *much* better. the whole "not being dead" thing is what has my hopes up

    well if you would have said japanese nurses before i saw the movie i would have been "hell yeah.......and i hope its a windy day" but since ive seen the movie and the "nurses" they are referring to ..............eh

    Why not give them something nice though, i wouldnt want to cosplay just to keep the outfit and rusty scalpel. Now a chainsaw!, oh yeah, running through ginza with a chainsaw kekekekekek!

    I wonder if they make a F.E.A.R. movie, if they're gonna volunteer little girls to dress up and start lumbering around the streets of tokyo
