Playlogic leaps to PS3

Dutch publisher signs worldwide publishing agreement to distribute titles on Sony's latest console.

Last week, Playlogic announced that it had signed a publishing agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment America to self-publish its own games on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in the US. However, oddly absent from that list was Sony's latest console, the PlayStation 3. Today, though, Playlogic has revealed that it has reached an agreement with Sony to publish PS3 games worldwide.

Though Playlogic currently has no scheduled PS3 projects on the horizon, the Dutch publisher and developer does have 10 games in the works. These include Obscure: The Aftermath; Officers; Age of Pirates: Captain Blood; Evil Days of Luckless John; and Dragon Hunters. This year, the publisher has put out WorldForge's Ancient Wars: Sparta and Metropolis' Infernal for the PC.

Earlier this week, Playlogic also announced that it had partnered with Ignition Entertainment to distribute Obscure: The Aftermath (previously known as Obscure 2) for the PC, PS2, and Wii, as well as Xyanide Resurrection for the PS2 in North America. A release window for either game was not revealed.

As to why said games weren't part of Playlogic's deal with Sony, a representative of the company told GameSpot that the deal with Ignition had been signed before the application process with SCEA had wrapped up.

"no scheduled PS3 projects on the horizon"

    PS3 fans keep waiting.

Don't forget Xbox 360 has PGR4, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry 4, Ace Combat 6, Virtua Fighter 5, Soul Calibur, etc. The list keeps going...

stryder_18 Let me put at ease with what microsoft will have...
Gears of War 2, Halo wars, Ninja Gaiden 2, Mass effect, Splinter Cell 5, Fable 2 and Lost Odyssey just to mention some also just for you exclusive content for GTA.

Don't worry for microsoft, I think they really understood that to succeed they need games, and honestly I think they're doing a great job on that matter

Hey Stryder...ever hear of something called the orange box and Mass Effect....and let's not forget that they will, without a doubt, release a Dead rising 2....a Gears of war 2....etc

Ya thats true about how much money microsoft made off of Halo 3 the first day and also how many 360's are going to overheat and need repairs from playing it so much. But honestly now what game will the 360 have that's great since its "greatest title" is out already...(pauses and hears nothing but crickets) The Wii and PS3 have many great titles coming out and not just one.

I'm thinking they snatched them to develop titles for the PSN instead of full fledged retail titles.

To gamer082009 - By the time they finish developing a game for the PS3 the sales will be fine. What you read and hear does not mean it's like that on Sony's charts.

I hope Playlogic loves the lack of sales they'll get on the PS3...at this point it's not a smart idea to exclude the 360....look at how much money Microsoft made off of Halo 3 in 1 day...If I were a publisher/developer I'd be including the 360 as much as possible. Oh yea, this is so funny as they've made no fun games anyways so 360 owners won't be missing much!

    @Colsworl

They bought them becaue of the "talent" they have and for them to develope future new IP for PS3.
Motorstorm and that other game for PSP(cant remember name) are already owned IPs by Sony, so no matter what Sony could not lose them even if they stay independent. Owning IP and owning studio are two different things.

It seems Sony are definitly realizing that exclusive games matter, hense why they bought BigBig and Evolution last week.

To be honest, It doesn't mean much to me. I didn't like much of the stuff they had on the list of games here. Perhaps if they score a hit (or something of the like) I would be more interested. They're not a bad company, really, I just haven't seen stuff appealing enough.
