Gray Matter slips to Q1 2008

Highly anticipated Jane Jensen adventure "slightly delayed" from original end-of-year release.

Gamers have been waiting a long time for the next offering from the "Queen of adventure." Jane Jensen's last big project, Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned, was released all the way back in 1999. Since then, Jensen has written novels and released a number of smaller casual games, including Inspector Parker and BeTrapped, but not a "proper" adventure.

Gray Matter (previously known cryptically as Project Jane-J) was originally announced back at 2003's Electronic Entertainment Expo as an Adventure Company title. However, a year later, Jane Jensen confirmed in an interview that development of the game had been put on hold. Nothing more was heard about it until August 2006, when it was announced that German publisher DTP Entertainment AG had revived the title and that it was good to go for a global fourth-quarter 2007 release.

However, it looks like adventurers will have to wait a little while longer, as it was announced today that the game had been put back to Q1 2008.

Gray Matter is a point-and-click adventure, in which you alternately control two characters: Samantha Everett, a street magician and drifter, and Dr. Styles, a neurobiologist who has become a recluse after the death of his wife in a car crash. Styles hires Samantha as his assistant, but she becomes increasingly concerned with the dark turns his research and experiments appear to be taking.

A spokesperson for DTP Entertainment said the game was delayed because, "We want to give the development team, the development process, and the game itself more time."

It's good to know that there are still those who strive to create great games of the adventure genre, which put focus on story, characters and challenges for the mind (not for your reflexes). they're a real relief from the action-heavy, but plot-neglectful games that abound in the industry these days. I am glad there is "Sam and Max" as an alternative, but since the release of such distinctive and grand adventure masterpieces as "The Longest Journey" and "Gabriel Knight" there hasn't been many Quest games of the same scope except for "Dreamfall" and perhaps a few others. I only hope they'll use the delay time to achieve the goal of creating an adventure as ambitious and compelling as my mentioned classical titles of the genre managed to do and let's hope it won't get cancelled.

People think adventure games are so boring and need to die...well, i think those people need more common sense ^.^
Not every game needs to be violent/bloody to be good

Highly anticipated! More like totally under the radar!.
I would have prefered a new G.K. (especially considering the new Broken Sword games) but this seems better than nothing!. Want list!

TryMe01: This game is absolutely nothing like a Mario and Luigi game - it's an adventure game!

And this news is slightly depressing...looks like the Sam and Max episodes will be the only adventure games we'll get this year.

If they need an extra year to refine the storyline, then let them have all the time they need.
