Videos lagging
- Feb 16, 2008 4:49 am PT
Hi!
The game is fine but the videos are not working properly. The sound is continual but I get one frame at every 2 second.
I have the latest driver for my card (8600GTS) and have the latest directx. (winxp) I even installed the directx from the disc.
I have no problem with Next life or Black mirror. Can somebody help me?

- Feb 16, 2008 7:40 am PTWhat about your RAM? I have 2GB RAM, and when I run the game with a couple of programs running in the background, the game lags. Try turning off unnecessary programs (only those that eat up your RAM) when you play the game. If that doesn't help then I don't know what will.

- Feb 16, 2008 7:46 am PTWell I have the exact same problem, the actual game is fine and almost completely lagless but as soon there's a cutscene my FPS goes down to like 1-2, the sound is normal however... I'm pretty sure there's no problem with my RAM but I have no idea what the issue is... I really need help, it's SO annoying :(

I have 2 gig ram. Although this is a very poorly coded game but it should be enough to play some video files I think.
In certain areas I get very low fps especially when using more than one camera looking at distance.
It seems I can run Crysis better than this. and that is a lol.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

Same problem, gameplay runs great but the video's play at 1FPS. Good to see others are having the same issue, maybe we'll be able to work out what's going on -- strongly doubt that it has anything to do with RAM though, since I've got 4 gigs worth and am running WinXP Performance Edition. I've tried a few different drivers for my 8800GT's, but I still get video lag. Maybe it has something to do with a video codec?

I too experiment this lag in video. I have 2 gigs of RAM so I am guessing it's not a RAM problem (especially seeing as how the dude above me has 4 gigs of it).
My mouse is also extremely laggy, to a point that is really making it impossible to play (since you have to click on all these little buttons)
Hopefully a patch will be out sooner than later and solve this issue.

- Feb 18, 2008 12:57 pm PTare you all using onboard sound or sound based on realtek drivers? if so i believe they are the issue here, either the game interacting with them or the drivers themselves.
I had an issue where I had no music, no sound in cut scenes, etc, i changed my nvidia nforce drivers for realtek ones and hey presto i have sound, now my cut scenes which did run ultra smooth chug along at about 10fps.

We have problem with the video. Audio is fine.
Anway, I have and audigy 2 card.
Bad videos is one thing but the more progress I made the lower fps I get. Fps is now around 10-15. I hardly find a camera with playable fps. Stopped playing. This is crap...

I am using realtek :S
I wonder if it is the same problem that goes for the lagging mouse as well.
Comp Specs:
Acer Aspire 5110
AMD Turion 64 x2
2 gigs RAM (DDR2)
ATI Radeon X1600

It appears to be a codec issue. I read somewhere that replacing DivX codecs with XviD helped to resolve this problem, but on my machine it didn't work, so I can't confirm anything -- although I think it's worth a try to experiment with different codecs and their versions.
An interesting thing: all the in-game videos I found so far are lagging on my system -- except one, which is called "Kim's Secret", if my memory serves me. This video can be found in sensitive files of one of the collaborators, and it plays perfectly -- I checked several times.

That didn't lag because it has no sound. I noticed sometimes the sound cut before the end of videos and in that short moment the lag is gone.
I checked the fps I get during videos with fraps an interestingly it's 30-60 even though it seems 1.
My fps during gameplay 17 with no cameras open. Open 1 camera in later levels and fps drop down to 7-9.In Crysis with medium settings I get 20-50 fps. lol!

kali007, after your post I decided to play around with audio and eventually I was able to resolve the issue. Thanks for the tip!
The solution was quite simple: I just switched from my Creative Audigy 4 Pro to motherboard's own sound (Realtek) and the videos now play back perfectly.

Hey guys,
The problem really is the audigy drivers, but no need to switch back to onboard cards. Just go and download the latest driver from soundblaster website and the problem is gone. Well the latest drivers are not that 'latest', they are from 2006 but I tend to ignore sound card updates.
Anyway, driver update solved the problem on my audigy2 zs desktop. However, I cannot confirm that it works on audigy 4.
