Gathering has today announced that it will release an official mission disc for Vietcong in September. Vietcong: Fist Alpha will see players returning to the highlands of Vietnam circa 1967 to complete seven new single-player missions or to do battle on eight new multiplayer maps. Fist Alpha will also add six new weapons to the existing Vietcong arsenal, as well as bayonets for weapons and machetes. Players will also need to be on the lookout for attacks from B-52 bombers and F-105 Thunderchief and F4 Phantom fighter planes.

"With Vietcong: Fist Alpha we are once again leading the way with an authentic interpretation of Vietnam in 1967," said Graeme Struthers, vice president of Gathering. "We have also talked to fans of Vietcong and asked them what they would like to see next--Fist Alpha promises to add to the whole experience of the 'Nam."

Vietcong is a first-person shooter set during the Vietnam War that was released in North America in March. For more information, check out our full review of the game. We'll bring you more information on the Fist Alpha mission disc as soon as it becomes available.
