No wonder...SF 4's presentation was really wel done,
    He practices calligraphy.
I like when developers add a little of themselves in a game...

I like what he said about a unified gaming platform.
It would be awesome to live in a world where there would only be game developers and anyone could just play any game released on a universal console with No Fanboy's that would be cool!

hahaa..that's a great interview! 10/10 gamespot! That's a really down-to-earth guy who hasn't realized how successful his game is. Two things: 1. Online Tournament 2. Nerf Zengief lol

I am glad that the huge success of SF4 did not give him a huge head! He seems very humble about it and has both feet on the ground. Both very good qualities! Plus I love that Zangief Tee he has on! I want one!

Some one complained about his hands not matching the dub...Asian context is explained in a different way then we in the west with our hand gestures. They have a much more underlying expression. They are just as much confused when they see our hand gestures. The interpreter was great. More like him would help our generation understand the Asian culture and relate more. Not just look at it as an exotic culture, alien, and therefore interesting.

I always thought shadow of rome was under appreciated. Sure the stealth was a tad tedious/repetitious but the gladiator fights kicked ass.

great interview and translation style , almost native. he was going on arcades , never though about game-dev as a career , he was on school band as a musician (guitar maybe) and he educated on interior architecture , that's all match in my life too , the only difference between is , a Capcom company ,the next street

The wish about changing the gaming industry and having one unified game platform, they tried it back in '93, it was called the 3DO. Obviously, it didn't work out.

I lol'd while watching this. I can't believe I never heard of Yohsinori Ono before Street Fighter 4's debut, he's really one of the top guys in Capcom, the only person I've heard of there before is Keiji Inafune.

Hes a gamer himself? Thank You! Finally, I've known an producer/creator of games who plays games. It's very unfortunate that game creators, majority don't play em or am i wrong? Awesome interview, I love it. Thank you.

wow the translator actually did a really good job trying to match the lines with his lips. it actually sounds like he's talking in english

  • lilmp89

    Posted Mar 5, 2009 9:12 am PT

I gotta say this translator makes it fee like we're listening to him exactly. The hands are kind confusing, but kinda matches (at least the part about 'making the check' around talking about being in a band. Still, he at least did the stutters and stuff, makes it sound good.

  • teknicz

    Posted Mar 5, 2009 9:12 am PT

I wonder how close the dub is to what is actually being said but I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure that the translator isn't misquoting him at least.

  • danopix

    Posted Mar 5, 2009 8:59 am PT

What an excellent job by the translator! Instead of a stalted, sputtering translation of his words we got an impassioned, real guy translation that really let me know this developer as a person. Gamespots questions are great too. I'd like to go out and have a couple beers with this guy, as long as the translator came along. And if he's even slightly responsible for how awesome Street Figher IV looks and plays, he's great at his job too.

  • TehEliteElite

    Posted Mar 5, 2009 8:03 am PT

Really? I thought the translation was quite good!

The translator is obviously reading his text and doing a on the fly translation. This guys hand gesture doesn't match what is being said, kinda defeates the purpose of having video.

    @ KyoValdez

"KV:Hey Jesus, isn't that the idiot who didn't included SFIII characters in SFIV?
Jesus: That's right, it is him.
KV:MAN! because of that idiot, SFIV is ruin.
Jesus: Yeah, SFIV could have been great with SFIII characters.
    KV:I hate Ono!"

#1 Street Fighter 4 WOULD HAVE BEEN RUINED WITH SF III charcters because they based this off SF2 not III so if you dont like it STFU!
