    Uh, I can't do the Ultra attack ... I tried a lot but I just can't ... any suggestions ? I'm using a 360 controller. I'm trying it with Ken.

    Fair do's Slayer you make a valid point mabe i was wrong in the way i said it I now agree with you that people often scream cheap to early and there are no cheap moves only people who arent yet at the skill level at which to deal with for instance Akuma's in air fireball tactic can be dealt with by ex dashing through.

    (yummy humble pie)

    Great vid from GS, consider the last year has felt very dry for good video content. Nice for a rookie like me to get some basic science behind the game clarified!

    I tell you... wayne...especially when you start playing on harder levels and its a must to use them...I play with both because its easier to do uppercuts with the controller....AND IS IT JUST ME...but its a hell of alot harder to pull off most of the moves on SF2 HD. than it is on this one...

    Posted Mar 2, 2009 4:46 am PT

    Agree with modifyd about the triggers on the standard controller! Ruins the game... and fight sticks are expensive!

    Well most importantly to me; they are using the arcade sticks...I have had SF4 while playing with my regular Xbox controller and I FELT ALOT OF LAG WHEN TRYING TO USE MY TRIGGER BUTTONS...and that was a crucial factor for me...especially for your most powerful moves and lets not forget sweeps....

    Much as i don't want 2 ill have 2 agree with slayer in street fighter there's nothing 2 cheap maybe but a few moves they give u way 2 escape throws a lot and maybe try 2 practice on your focus moves i swear there the bomb. Theres ppl who play casualy and sum who are hardcore, who cares chose your own prefrence and have fun , oh and practice 2 lol.

    Fantastic vid, really enjoyed it. Great for introducing old school SF2 players the finer points of SF4. Would love to see more, perhaps with advanced tactics. Thank you Gamespot.

    Bravo SlayerX13.... I'm a big fighting game fanatic and hate when "scrubs" use the word "cheap." This game is balanced in so many ways that this Zombierian guy wouldn't understand. Sure it's all about having fun, but in reality the guy who says "cheap" is just a sore loser that doesn't understand the details of the game.

    Zombierian... Ever see grandma's boy... "YOUR S&@T's WEAK!!!"

    zombiebrian:

    Player matches are for fun, ranked matches are for winning.

    You also not understand that there are no cheap moves. Only whiney scrubs that say there are because they can not find a counter for one move.

    Please read Sirlins (a Street Fighter game designer) article on scrubs like you that cry cheap.

    Sirlins Perspective on Scrubs and Cheap Moves

    A) Always, there is nothing that is cheap. Just Scrubs that think there are.

    Hey the game definitely has its flaws but playing against cpu's are really cheap play against friends and online its a lot better ill admit i was really pissed at the game but after playing online and friends i felt like we were all even, so try it out first, and btw the video works so listen good!

  • zombiebrian

    Posted Feb 28, 2009 3:58 am PT

    Slayer i take it buy that that you relies that by being cheap people who would pick up the game and play for "fun" wont pick up the game and have "fun" if you find winning "fun" thats great but thats not the only reason for enjoying games is it. Q) can you win without being cheap?

    chrisbeaumont- can you expand on this? i dont fully understand
    edit* each character is the same, its a matter of how you use them though it cant justify your inability to play the game as you would hope to. just practice more and your efforts may payoff in ways you could only imagine

    This Games awesome but not perfect Akuma, seth and segat are cheap. people who play as Akuma all the time online are missing the point

    No Scrub you're missing the point. It is about winning. Every tactic is legit and there is no such thing as a cheap character. People like you just call stuff like that cheap because you can not find a strategy to defeat it.

    Spamming = Legit
    Turtling = Legit
    Cross jumping = Legit

    There are no cheap characters, moves, or tactics. Just scrubs saying there are.

    @Dan020686 - yeah, "Fancy Dan" is UK slang, although I've no idea of the origins, and basically it means someone who is a bit of a show off

    Not had a lot of chance to play SFIV so this was pretty useful, I didn't quite get the focus cancel before. Couple of things I would like to say...

    I don't think it mentions but you can still combo super moves, but not ultras. You can even cancel with a super move out of a special. For example if you are playing as Ryu you can land a dragon punch and cancel it into a Shinku Hadoken (his super fire ball) without doing anything special. So while super moves do less damage it can still be worth while holding back the EX specials because they are fairly easy to land.

    Second, the Xbox pad is aright. I find the d-pad bounces too much to be accurate but the analogue stick with a bit of practice is responsive enough to be able to perform any move reliably. SFIV is pretty forgiving on command inputs any way. As Anil says don't expect to pick up an arcade stick and the game will be easier intantly. I still remain unconvinced by arcade sticks and I think a good pad is actually better than a good stick (not to mention cheaper). Arcade sticks are fun though.

    Finally Mad Catz have said that the pads and sticks aren't currently a limited run. More sticks are in production so don't go mad and pay over the top prices now.

    Great insight on basic play of the game, along with some cool combo's you can do. Very nice.

    Posted Feb 26, 2009 5:17 am PT

    The focus cancel really reminds me of Guilty Gear's Roman Cancel (3 button press during an attack animation). Did the Street Fighter series have this before?
    I need to get this game...And some arcade stick. Too bad it won't work for the wii, GGXXAC definately needs this. The + pad thing for the wii is worse than just horrible.

    Just ordered my Hori arcade stick from amazon last night. Pretty soon I'll be getting pwned with no excuses about the crappy d-pad on the 360 controller. Oh yeah!
