    like everyone else bought it for like 5 bucks on steam. its a great atmospheric world and it has a nice mission base system going on but im finding using weapons horrible. they are so innacurate and your heatlh drains so quickly. im finding it hard to continue forward and its only on the stalker difficulty. (around medium). would someone tell me if its just me or what cos it ruins the gameplay for me.

    i too just bought this game on Steam for 5 bucks. have always been interested in it, and the price sealed the deal for me. downloading it now

    For those who just bought it on Steam (like me) I've heard we should also be downloading the Stalker Complete 2009 mod collection which brings the graphics into the modern era.

    I just bought this game on Steam about 15 minutes ago. I hope it's as good as this review says it is. If not, I only paid $5 for it so I don't mind.

    I wonder how more polished the game could have been if GSC just concentrated on single player and ditched the crappy multiplayer.

    $5 on steam right now until nov 2. plus it's the most stable, bug free version you can get .

    To the guy who asked if it works on Vista, I can confirm that it does. I played it on Vista 64-bit, Home edition.

    I can't believe this game is rated lower than Fallout 3! I mean wtf?? Fallout 3 is like a cartoon compared to this excellence. Even the graphics are better in Stalker while it's an older game.
    This is simply one of the best shooters out there!

    Playing this game patched up makes all the difference. First version had some issues but with patch 1006 its an absolute joy to play this. It runs much better too =)

    You can definately run STALKER.

    my brother has a P4 3.2ghz 2gb ram and a 7800 GT and he ran it smoothly.

    Wether or not maxed out, well i dont know.

    This game runs on slower rigs. It has dx8 support. Doesn't need maxed graphics the atmosphere is still amazing. I have 7800 and get 70fps on dx8 mode with every thing maxed.

    Oh yes - and two quotes from the video review:

    'The graphics are somewhat dated...'

    '...Making the game look very realistic'

    I go with the second quote - and luckily gamers being more intelligent than reviewers - they realised how good these graphics were, were more interested in the gameplay and bought this game in umbers that dwarfed Crysis sales!

    If this game had been released by bethesda or Valve it would have got 9.1-9.3 - hence I score it 9.2 - and so should gamespot!

    I totally agree with you, considering the fact of how fun the sinlger player game is one of the best ive played and the fact that they fixed the bugs so fast.

    A fair review, although I think it should have gotten a bit higher, considering most of the bugs have already been fixed and the single player is unlike anything we've seen before.
