Frag Dolls win first pro event

Ubisoft-sponsored all-female team takes first place at CPL finals in Rainbow Six Vegas tourney; win believed to be first for all-female team.

The battle of the sexes is heating up in the predominantly male sector of gaming. A four-person team from the Frag Dolls--an all-female collective of gamers--took first place at the Rainbow Six Vegas finals at the Dallas stop of the Cyberathlete Professional League.

The team, sponsored by Ubisoft, included Amy "Valkyrie" Brady, Emily "Seppuku" Ong, Alyson "Calyber" Craghead, and Nelly "Psyche" Morel. The squad beat the previously undefeated "The Unknown" team, who made it to the competition through an online ladder.

While Ubisoft touts the victory as "the first time an all-female team has won a tournament at a pro-circuit event," Frag Doll Morgan "Rhoulette" Romine was a bit more cautious. In her blog post about the achievement, she repeats the above statement but precludes it with "as far as we know."

"The team has been playing Rainbow Six Vegas up to 12 hours a day since the game came out," said Rhoulette. "We played as a team, communicated well, stuck to our strategies and won."

Wow, I guess *****es can win at video game tourneys. When the tourney is hosted by their sponsors, it would seem. That is one seriously large cloud hanging over this story. If they want to be respected, maybe they should stop harping on their gender and win some tournaments that aren't bought and paid for. Just a thought. Oh yeah, before I forget; the Spice Girls are over so there is no need to invoke their lame marketing catch phrase.

HA! i've played them, they're good, ONLY COMPARED TO THE AVERAGE GAMER. Same with PMS, but it doesn't end with female clans, many male clans are overrated. Talk about hype over nothing, I don't devote nearly as much hours, yet I'm beat by almost no one. GT: gorillaCHEEZ, if you need a demonstration.

I think it's excellent that the gaming industry is opening up to women outside of dance, and wardrobe games. I love the Rainbow Six games. When I started gaming those were the titles that drew me. I'm glad they kicked tail. And to pipopper, take a love pill dude, it's not that serious. Your ego shouldn't be bruised because the women excelled at a game that's not geared towards them. Peace and love dude!!!

not being rude but half those *girls* look a bit gruff....

And i agree that it takes a lot away from their win by the tourny being sponsored by their sponsors...

geez... ever think the REASON they're sponsored by Ubisoft is because they're good at their game? why all the hate? and of course it's news because they're an all girl team: that makes it uncommon, as mentioned above, "the first time an all-female team has won a tournament at a pro-circuit event,"

dang! i would have loved to have seen the facial impressions while they concentrated. Some girls i seen turn the joypad while pressing buttons and some have a shock look and others who never play have their mouths open and tongue hanging out.

But then anyone playing 12 hrs every day for a while could probably do it if not better.

A team won a tournament. A tournament that was hosted by the company that was sponsoring them, based on a game that hasn't even been out long enough to gain any real competition. Yeah, real great achievement.

    *Note my sarcasm*

LOL, I guessed it! I didn't even know they were sponsored by Ubisoft but I knew it was a marketing setup. How lame, this is almost as bad as Sony's all I want for xmas is a psp setup.
