"Think you're ready?" - What are they thinking with a catch phrase like that? It isn't like the idea of FPS special ops-focused fighting is a brave new genre they just opened up. I agree with the massive amount of people asking "Doesn't this look like a less-pretty, less-in-depth CoD MW?"

It's not liberation, it's turning point.
Anyway this game looks like it might fail cuz of the crappy trailer.

Bad trailer, worried. Codemasters has great stories but in the end they screw them up like Jericho, Rise of the Argonauts, Liberation: Fall of Liberty. Codemasters needs new management and people who know how to voice sync just look at Jericho and you'll know what I mean.

lol i love this game. but this company who make the trailers is so weird because you can see hes moving the camerea in game like a spectater and using his keyboard to move. looks kinda cheap to me =/. even in the old flashpoint trailers!

    @ Miketis
But escapism also includes the suspense of disbelief, and by making the game as realistic as possible we're able to escape our boring old lives at a desk, don't know about you but my job is boring as Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo. But being realistic doesn't mean it’s not fun though. Fun is just an opinionated label m8, when you play an RPG (if u play) why do you think people wuv WarCraft so much. Because they can pretend to be a wizard or elf or whatever. Realism is another term that's thrashed about but what is realistic in game terms. If you think about it, realism changes from game to game. What is 'realistic' in katamari is different to 'realistic' in Opflashpoint. When we play CoH in a sense you are pretending to be the general or when we play Empire Total War. Play IS pretending mate. Even if a kid plays with his/her toy car, he/she is pretending to be driving it. So don't know about you but by playing this I am pretending to be something I cannot be, because that is the essence of playing games. If you think that you are just playing the game cuz you just play then i think you are missing out on an important aspect of what videogames are all about

Only thing i dont like about this game is that in ARMA1 the computer enemies never miss no matter wat the range or difficulty. So it will be the same since both games are made by the same company and also its not realistic, all ya have to do is watch Ross Kemp in Afghanistan to no that.

do down a guy in cod takes around 1-6 bullets depending on what multilayer settings however you will be lucky to survive one on this game , hardcore realism!!!!!!!!" none of this extra health s%*Tlol

@ Miketis I can already tell you that will never be anything like CoD 4 or BFMC. Operation Flashpoint aims at people that want a realistic tactical experience these kind of shooters are few. Give it a try but if you're not into slow paced shooters then this probably wont be for you.
It's a completely different kind of game aimed at a different audience. Then you average shootem up crowd.

This game and ARMA II are going to easily be the greatest TS games of all times! However don't expect them to come bug free, these types of games usually require several patches before it's right.

nice game, i like the tactical about it, you don't see it a lot, i think its more realistic than Call of Duty and all these other shooters, i'm gonna buy it!!

  • Gammet25

    Posted May 23, 2009 12:31 am PT

u dont see many tactical shooters these days, im looking forward to this game

i heard that the creators went to the island and put every building where it is in real life everything is there like it is in real life (unless you blow it up then it wont ever come back)

FlankerDFMax - Thanks for possibly ruining what might be a good game.

berio2toru - Why do you think we play games???? To escape, not to pretend we are actually soldiers dummy!!!

Im assuming you meant to post that comical remark on the following page, as your truly well composed comment seems a little out of place on this page.

I can't wait, I love that it's a TACTICAL shooter. I like games that make you thing and plan a strategy before just running in guns a' blazing. I haven't played the first one, but I wish I have.

  • berio2toru

    Posted May 20, 2009 1:32 pm PT

@ cbu97 lol yipee i'm not the only one!!!

But what I really missed from OpFlash was when you sometimes get shot and the only thing you can do is either crawl or crouch, cuz your legs were broke! And in ArmR it had to be the flashes of lightening seen through NVs and timing the shot just right so that the AI couldn't hear my gun shots...

    @ NuclearDefCon1

I think you might not like this then unless you play some of the side missions like in OpFlash 1 and ArmR. In OpFlash 1 I spent 2 hours stuck in a forest with enemy patrols doing sweeps and APCs out in the fields. It's the mission when you are trying to get to the coast after being hunted down by 2 Hinds at night. That mission still gives me nightmares :S

hidden and dangerous was the boy, without it operation flashpoint would of never came along.

im going to wait for a gamespot review b4 i buy this game because i dont want to waste money on a boring game where u spend more time running then shooting.

and yea, i agree with some of the posts, this trailor was an utter waste of time. who gives a monkeys about some ariel shots of the map on a trailer, i want to see some gameplay!.

nah you don't have spazie finger lol squad command was a royal pain for me too, so you're not alone bro

  • cbu97

    Posted May 19, 2009 3:53 pm PT

lol no last stand or dropping grenades when dead, no healing in cover, you get shot it's medic time or bleed out like a stuck pig. Ahhh, how I miss the sniping from flashpoint.... bullet drop and target leading....and one shot kills....no radar or uav's, no "perks", and certainly having to think and observe before running off into the open to your messy death

This is going to be good. Back to some awesome realistic solidering and none of CoDs arcade style shooting (which is fun but not for long). Wonder if they'll put a map editor like in Armr.

Agree with FlankerDFMax, all of you who like running in and blowing things up WILL find this game hard. Its like the thinking mans FPS. If you can call it that way. But I have to say I found the commanding the troops in the original difficult to master. Maybe I have spazie fingers??

I f this is even a patch off the original; all you peeps who don't have the attention span to learn more than a dozen keys might just as well move on now. OpFlash was definitely the opposite of run 'n gun.

In my own opinion the Ghost Recon games tried to be realistic but i found them very boring and gave up quickly. i dont think we need masses of functions, like three functions per button or press this and it brings up a sub-menu from which you can access another sub-menu etc etc. Just point and shoot is fine for me, oh and perhaps a frag button too!!

I dont know about being 'Fun to play', but it will without a doubt be Challenging.

  • StDmMs

    Posted May 18, 2009 9:19 am PT

Realistic - Definitely, but will it be fun to play?

  • Miketis

    Posted May 18, 2009 12:27 am PT

Hoping its more of a BFMC than an "ultra reaslitic" shooter which means boredom. Just about every person reading these previwes must be thinking along the lines of 'COD4 but with huge maps', and if thats the case then i cant wait. If not, then Nov will answer my prayers!

  • cbu97
