"Maximum payneful" may have been the common consensus among critics, but the Mark Wahlberg-led action flick inspired by Remedy's disillusioned cop drama still managed respectable bank. After opening to $18 million in October, the 20th Century Fox production has gone on to gross nearly $40 million as of November, according to IMDB.

Those yields will soon be growing, though, as High-Def Digest reports this week that an unrated edition of Max Payne has been slotted in for a January 20 release on Blu-ray Disc. The home box office release will reportedly include a number of extras, including audio commentary, a documentary, and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray release will also include a picture-in-picture track, as well as BD-Live support.

Remedy's gaming franchise has been dormant since 2003's Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. However, the publisher has repeatedly hinted, most recently this March, that a follow-up is in the works.

It could be worse stakex. Uwe Bowell could have directed it, just think of the nightmares you would have had then. I agree the movie was not that good, but Mark Wahlberg was working the best he could with the resources he had. Other than that, I think the problem with movie adaptation of famous video games (at the least the first time attempts, because the sequel films seem to do good) is that the director and producer have never laid a single hand on the game. They look up the summary probably on wikipedia, decide that is not good enough to fill an hour and a half or 2 hour time slot, and attempt to fill in the rest with either action or an improvised plotline.

Im with CreepingShadow... If it was not for the cost of the movie ticket, and the fact I was with other people, I would have walked out of this movie half way through. Im sorry, but you have absolutly no brain if you found this movie to be at all good.

The story behind the movie wasn't bad, but the director clearly had no desier to actually use the story the whole second part of the movie, leaveing several loose ends, and not takeing advantage of the plot points set up in the beggining of the film. Then the acting was... well it was down right terrible. I really like Mark Wallberg as an actor, but he played probly the worst role of his career with this movie... and thats pretty hard when his role was to play a dry, depressed cop. Then there is the end of the film... which was about as bad as it could have possibly been. Several plot issues were never resolved, then main "bad guy" that was being built up the whole movie died without any sort of climaxtic fight, and the last ten minuts of the movie had a terrible lack of action. If a movie wants to be a brainless bullet fest... then fine, but this movie even failed to do that, which is pretty damn hard to do to be perfectly honest.

I don't mean to rag on anyone who actually enjoyed the film... and I myself like many films most people don't, but I just can't grasp how someone could honestly say they enjoyed this film. I really can't.

Well the movie wasn't that good as they twisted a lot of the story's elements around but the visuals were nice. I am looking forward to this so called "Follow-up" of the 1st 2 games that is coming, i'm guessing it's part 3 that will be the final to wrap up the epic story of the detective on a hunt for retribution and i am excited as i really want to see how things conclude and what other sick twist will be made 2 the story!!

Movie maker should stop making movie that has a title of video game, if the plot isn't related to the game will be failure, don't they learn that from Final Fantasy?
